CQA Winners Circle

WINDS of TIME, Judy Leslie, Winner of Best of Show

I’m a little late to the party on this one, but could not pass on the opportunity to share the good news about the CQA 2010 National Juried Show Janome Judges Choice Awards.  I was fortunate to be able to attend the awards ceremony on April 27, 2010 at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary, Alberta (along with Liz Thompson, Educational Consultant and Darren, our western Sales Manager). We literally ran up the stairs from a quick classroom set-up, seemingly minutes after landing in Calgary, and were welcomed by the lovely Madame President, Johanna Alford.

The Janome Award winners were for the Judges choice.

Judge Lily lam chose Helen MacPhail Sims’ Life in the Emerald Sea.

Susan Purnery Mark’s vote went to Carole Swinden’s Reflections.

And finally, Bonnie Voice voted for Judith Chorney’s Roses Are Your Choice.

Sadly, Judith Chorney passed away after her piece was juried into the show. Her daughter accepted the award for her in a moving tribute to her mom.

Pictured at the top of this post is Winds of Time by Judy Leslie. It won for Best of Show. Judy stopped by our booth and gave me an up close look at the work behind her quilt. I have a feeling that we may be seeing more good things from this talented stitcher!
