Pantone Goes Pink

The 2011 Color of the Year has been announced and we are liking it. Say hello to Honeysuckle. In the words of Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®:

“Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues… Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Being a member of the red family is a good thing : )

Looking at trends at the recent Quilt Market, it is easy to see this delicious shade of pink as being popular among designers, quilters, crafters and sewists. Here at Janome Canada, we just happen to be working on some upcoming sewing projects that delight in this sweet, vibrant color. It can go classic to retro; edgy to grily-girl. With so many lush colors to choose from in textiles, it is hard to settle on one leading hue, but we are happy to play with pink for a while.
