Quilts for Japan” Project Threads of Hope

September first: while we are not quite ready to say farewell to summer, the itch to stitch is definitely returning after a bit of a hiatus and time for inspiration building.

Want to know a quick way to get a fabric fix? Maybe you will consider preparing a Quilt Kit for the second phase of Quilt’s for Japan. This time founder Bev Rogan has a unique request. While the donation of over 1700 quilts that she organized was huge success (THANK YOU to all of our Janome Life readers who participated – those quilts are in Japan in the hands of appreciative recipients now), the relief organization on the ground has made a plea to send QUILT KITS for folks in the shelter to create their own. Overcrowding and devastating loss causes depression and life in the shelter can be very boring. Quilting can help to lift spirits and teach a new skill while also being a great way to socialize.

It is so easy to donate, and a great way to get back in touch with your stash that is calling your name!

The quilting and sewing community is rallying support for Bev and Q for J. She was a guest on Mark Lipinski’s Creative Mojo. Thread companies like Aurifil and Sizzix have sent in supplies and Landauer Publishing is supporting with Ten Free Copies of THREADS: The Basics and Beyond for a give-away draw on Q for J’s Facebook page to all eligible donors.

Janome Canada has joined with Janome America to support the drive to collect kits.
Why not dig into your fabric and notions and put together a simple kit?

Share what you love : )
