SPOTLIGHT ON CONSUMER SEWING PROJECT: PROFESSIONAL TOTE BAG

Check out this practical and versatile tote bag……. care to make one on your Janome sewing machine during 2013??

This pic was sent in by Cheryl Paul of Saskatoon, Canada: she was as pleased as punch with her PROFESSIONAL TOTE. The pattern she used is designed by CREATIVE THIMBLE and she tells me that she sewed “every stitch” (her words) on her JANOME MC12000, mostly using the narrow even feed foot or Single Acufeed flex foot. She also used the zipper foot for some of the parts as the zippers are sandwiched between the lining & the top fabric.

She was really pleased with the way it turned out and says she would not change a thing in the pattern instructions: “it looks so nice and everything fit like a glove”.  Cheryl has plans to make another one in black & white with a sewing & music print on the fabric(s).

Thank you for sharing this project with us, Cheryl.

Maybe this project might inspire you further to plan & set goals for what you will be sewing on your JANOME  sewing machine in 2013??!!

Thanks for showing my “Professional Tote”. It and the first one I made were very useful on my trip to Arizona to escape our Saskatchewan winter. I found out that they hold A LOT OF STUFF. I still have one more to make, but other sewing must get attention first. I just want to add that this Tote will sew up equally well on any Janome one might own. I just wanted to put my 12000 to a good test of all sorts of thicknesses, vinyl. I used a leather needle, regular needle, the single acuflex foot, both zipper and regular and the teflon foot and the regular feet as well. It was a lot of fun putting the totes together. The instructions were some of the best I’ve ever used and I don’t follow directions all that well, most of the time.

Another note: I saw the pattern for this Tote in several stores in the Mesa/Phoenix area. We visited many, many quilt shops – just wish I could have brought more fabric home but there is a limit to what we can bring across the border.
