Remember the post I did a little while back about these awesome NEW Embroidery design Collections??? Check out that blog post again if you missed it or were not paying attention?!
Well, believe it or not, I have FINALLY found a little bit of time in my busy schedule to stitch out a number of designs from some of these collections. Here are a few of my completed projects…………….stay tuned as more are in progress:
I refer you to Leah Day’s blog. Please check out this link. Leah has got some exciting Free Motion stuff happening. Not sure if you already know this? But you can find out more on her blog: Leah had a 365 day Quilting Project where she created a NEW free motion quilting design every single day for a year……..Yes, she did! Some of these free motion designs were then digitized to be included on the JANOME MC 15000 (see below) and others may be found on the ARTISTIC COLLECTION CD called EXPRESSIONS OF TEXTURE by LEAH DAY. This CD is available from your local JANOME DEALER. I know for sure that this product is available to all our JANOME DEALERS in CANADA and the USA. I also noticed that Leah Day has it available for sale on her website.

CLOSE UP: ALL DESIGNS WERE STITCHED USING SULKY BLENDABLES – 100% COTTON THREAD. I USED THE SAME THREAD IN THE BOBBIN SO MY QUILT SANDWICH IS REVERSIBLE. ALL EMBROIDERY/QUILTING WAS DONE ON THE JANOME MC 15000 USING THE ASQ22 HOOP WITH IT’S SUPER EASY MAGNETIC CLAMP SYSTEM TO HOLD MY QUILT SANDWICH IN PLACE FOR EMBROIDERY. SO QUICK & EASY THAT I MANAGED TO GET 3 EMBROIDERED BANNERS MADE IN ONE DAY AT THE OFFICE BETWEEN OTHER TASKS…..I am not lying!
We, as staff at JANOME, had a lot of fun some time back trying to decide which of these incredible 365 free motion designs we liked the most…………..pretty hard task!! Well, in the end it was narrowed down to a few which were INCLUDED on the JANOME HORIZON MC 15000 as built-in designs. You will find these under the Designers category & sub section: Leah Day. The lime green embroidery banner below shows 3 of these JANOME MC 15000 designs inspired by Leah Day. I did increase the size of each design slightly to fill up the Janome ASQ22 (magnetic clamp) hoop which comes standard with the JANOME MC 15000. I did not use JANOME DIGITIZER MBX embroidery software to do this. No, I simply enlarged the design on the edit screen of the Mc15000……quick, easy & effective. Note that resizing a design this way without using Digitizer embroidery software does NOT change the total number of stitches. So this kind of resizing is best used for slight size adjustments – smaller or larger by 20% only.
You will notice the line of straight & serpentine quilting around the edges. I did this on the JANOME MC8900 while the JANOME MC15000 was busy stitching out more lovely embroidery designs for upcoming projects……keep watching!
The lime green print fabric binding was applied to the trimmed edge of the banner using the JANOME QUILT BINDER SET for 9mm machines – I was using the JANOME MC8900. I sewed the binding using the same serpentine stitch to echo the quilting + embroidery/quilting designs on the banner.

Do you know if I can purchase this design collection anywhere? It’s no longer on her website and I’ve search the internet with no success…

Hi Lori,
As far as I am aware, this CD of designs is available through Janome Canada, Janome America and Artistic Creative Products dealers across North America. Of course, the dealer may not have it in stock but they could order for you provided our warehouses have inventory. I checked, we do have a few left in Canada. If you want one of these, it would have to be ordered through a Janome Canada dealer. (Dealer locator on http://www.janome.ca top right corner of home page).

as far as I can find there is not a quilt binding foot for the 15000
there was one for the 12000 but since they connect with the bobbin cover they are diffrent and will not interchange.

Hi Pamela,
You are correct. CURRENTLY there is no Quilt Binder for the Mc15000 and other easy set bobbin machines. However, it is very definitely “in the works” and I am hoping inventory will be with us within the next month or 2. I am speaking about Canada. I cannot speak for other Janome subsidiaries if you are enquiring from outside of Canada.

You know that Janome Life is not just the 15,000! I know you want to sell this machine, but there are plenty of us out here with more than one Janome. In fact, seven.
8900’s. 11000SE, 6600’s all owners, looking for ideas and use of those machines.

Hi Diana,
We are so glad that you found us! Janome Life started as a small little channel for Janome Canada educators to share news and knowledge with our customers across our vast country when ‘in-person’ visits could not happen in every area that we wanted to visit. But, as time quickly passed, we found that we had an audience of others around the world eager to learn more about all sorts of Janome topics, from machines to accessories; software to sewing techniques. Our news tends to be focused on our latest releases, and with the MC15000, there is a lot to cover. We try to report on a variety of topics and hear what you are saying about being multi-machine owners. So many ideas and inspirations to look after! We are looking at our editorial calendar and how we can add more to our little blog. We hope that you stick with us and thank you for being a Janome sewist. Happy Sewing! (…& quilting…. & embroidering…)

Hi Lisa,
I’m very interested in FMQ and visit Leah’s blog frequently. I have the Janome Horizon MC 12000. If I purchased Leah’s CD will I be able to download her designs to my 12000? I do not have the Acufil Software – mainly because I’ve been told it cost $500 by my local sewing store and I think that is too high for only 70 stipple designs. I’m trying to figure out how to stipple the background of a square and then appliqué over it. Leah’s designs are sweet. So I’m hoping I can use them if they aren’t too pricey. By the way, I enjoy your posts very much.
Thanks,
Sandy

Hi Sandy,
YES, you will be able to download any & all of Leah’s designs to the Janome Mc12000. All you need is the jef format which is there on the CD. NO problem.
Yes, the Acufil Quilting Kit for the Mc12000 is about the price you quote. However, I do want to point out that you are most 100% definitely NOT just paying for approx. 70 designs!!! NO, you are getting the entire ACUFIL QUILTING TOOL package with ASQ22 hoop. Personally, I would NOT ever try to quilt my quilts in the embroidery hoop if I did not have our wonderful magnetic clamp ASQ22 hoop. It will be rather difficult and fiddly to hoop up a quilt sandwich in the SQ23 hoop or GR hoop or SQ14 hoop. I do believe that there is a risk of damaging the screw that tightens these hoops. They are not designed to hold a thick quilt sandwich.
I would highly recommend you scroll back/do a search on this blog for information I have posted about our ACUFIL quilting system to see what it does. You really will be amazed at the options that will open up to you as you learn and discover what the Acufil calculator in Horizon Link can do; how you can combine designs & achieve incredible results on your quilts with the minimum of stress & strain on your shoulders, neck & back trying to do the same thing with free motion. Ask me how I know??!!
You may also ask your local Janome dealer to show you how the Acufil Quilting kit for Mc12000 works.
I do hope you give the Acufil Quilting kit a good, long second look as I know you will not be disappointed.
Glad you like the posts. I have a lot of fun writing them and an so happy when I can assist & inspire folk to use their Janome machines to the max!

Liz,
This is awesome. You have given me inspiration for finishing some quilts myself and save me big bucks in taking a quilt out for quilting. I will have to experiment a bit and “get over” what I think it should look like when it is totally finished.
I bound 2 quilts for some little grand daughters at Christmas time. One is sleeping under hers and loves it and the other hasn’t taken hers home yet, but will very soon. That binder is another wonderful tool to have. I’m waiting for mine to arrive for my MC15000.
