APPLE-A-DAY WITH JANOME: APPLE CORE CURVED PIECING

Cute to the Core

Today we take a web tour of APPLE CORE curved piecing as seen in the traditional Apple Core quilt design. This shape needs no explaining, but the piecing around curves could use a bit of assistance. We took a tour to see how others are handling this quilt challenge.

HERE IS A LINK TO A TUTORIAL Where you can watch a video on how to cut, pin and sew up these shapes. This link shows Jenny from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. I have often watched & enjoyed her tutorials – here is another one!  There are others so you might like to do your own search and watch a few more to get comprehensive advice…….just be sure to put the word QUILT in your search or you will be given many video’s on how to core an apple to make apple pie!!

MAKE QUILTS, TABLE RUNNERS & MANY OTHER PROJECTS……..AN IDEAL WAY TO USE UP SCRAPS!

One more other tidbit that we picked up along the way: when it comes to cutting out lots of these apple core shapes, there are some helpful tools to be found.  AccuQuilt Go! and Go! Baby can both use the handy apple core cutting die to churn out a queen sized collection of cores if you so desire. Less time cutting and more time to sew – sounds ok to us (and we are not affiliated – just a happy discovery.)

Hi Liz — I’m on the coach, next stop Heidleburg, Germany! I’ve enjoyed the Apple A Day series on the road. Just thought I would remind our Artistic Suite owners that cutwork fills for the apple core shape come with the program, ready to turn into cutting files with the cutwork needles. See you mid October!
