Please follow the instructions for the download (from the website) and upload to your Janome MC12000 VERY carefully. Please contact your local Janome dealer for assistance if you are not confident about navigating the instructions on the Global Janome website.
This version 1.2 update is for the JANOME MC12000 machine. It will add the RE18 hoop to the list of hoops on the screen of the machine – in other words it adds Essential hoop RE18 compatibility to your machine.

The Essential RE18 Hoop is available for purchase from your local Janome dealer………….it would make an ideal Christmas gift, would it not?
The hoop has been reviewed already on this blog but here’s a quick recap: it is 5.5 x 7 inches (140x180mm) and comes with 4 magnets and a USB stick with 50 bonus designs. (Do a search for RE hoop on janomelife for more information)
You should also please download the HORIZON LINK SUITE software update to your computer. This update may be found on the same Janome Global website as the v1.2 update for the machine – immediately below it on the list of updates. Here is the link. This update for the Horizon Link software adds compatibility with version 1.2 on the machine as well as improvements & modifications for Windows 8 /8.1 compatibility.

I downloaded the update on my computer for my mc12000 horizon link and put the machines update on a sub stick. How do I open the machine in update mode so it will load the update?
Can’t find that step anywhere.

However, did you download and print the Installation instructions when you downloaded the update for your machine? They are there on the Global website: http://www.janome.co.jp/e/e_downloads/mc12000v120.html. There are actually 5 separate downloads which have all the information so I think you may have missed seeing it.

I am using Janome MC12000 .
During this time the computer is connected with Window Vista . I want to upgrade to window10 .
My question is whether I can run all my old programs .

What old programs are you specifically referring to? Janome Digitizer MBX? If so, yes, our latest versions of the software are compatible with Windows 10. As a general rule, embroidery machine, software and computer all need to be updated in tandem to ensure compatibility issues do not arise.
Vista and XP are no longer supported by Microsoft or our Software Support Helpline.

I finally purchased acufil quilt kit for my Janome 12000. What I didn’t know was the acufil tool cd says for Windows 7. I need to know if it will work on 8.1 and Windows 10? If not, is there an update so I can use it?

The Acufil Tool software is compatible with Windows XP and beyond so no problem. You can go to this link to update the Horizon Link software if it is not already 1.20

Hi Liz,
I just updated my Janome 12000 to version 1.20…….sweated all the way but it went well. I show the 18 and 22 hoop sizes. I need to know if it is necessary to buy the acufil quilt kit in order to do the quilting. Can I just buy the 22 hoop with the magnets. Then would have to buy quilting software, is that correct. Or the only way I can do the quilting is to buy the kit?
One more question regarding the Digitizer MBX. What version did my Janome 12000 come with and is there an update. Was thinking for v4.5 but it was confusing on Janomes site as to whether I could download it. I don’t want to mess up after doing v1.20 so well.

We do not sell the Acufil ASQ22 hoop separately. It is only sold as part of the Acufil Quilting kit for MC12000. Also you really cannot adequately do Janome Acufil quilting without the software that comes with the hoop & magnets in the kit. And BTW, Acufil quilting is my favourite part on the Mc12000 & MC15000! I love it and would not like to manage without this method of machine quilting with my embroidery hoop.
I am unaware of the MC12000 coming with the Digitizer MBX software so perhaps that was an arrangement between you & your dealer? The current version is version 4.5 but there will be a global launch later this month to version 5.
And I think you are getting confused: you updated your MC12000 to version 1.2 with a free download. And software update to Digitizer MBX is a purchasable upgrade which you would have to buy at your Local Janome dealer and is installed on your computer – has nothing to do with updating your MC12000.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I do understand that 1.20 was free download. Does my janome 12000 come with 4,0 Mbx? Is it need d in conjunction with the 1.20 update?
Also was checking iPad apps. You have one called My 12000 for $49.00. Does this app load the acufil calculator or just go thru demo on how you use it. Says it comes with all kinds of software.
Doesn’t really give much info and I have not found anything on line.

Hi Sharin,
The MC12000 does not come with Janome Digitizer MBX software (version 4 or later versions) unless you purchased it together with the machine from your dealer.
What you might be thinking about is the HORIZON LINK SOFTWARE which does come included with your MC12000 – in the box and needs to be installed on your computer. This is quite different to Digitizer MBX software. Janome MBX Digitizer software is not required to operate the Mc12000 but if you wish to create your own embroidery designs, you cannot do it without digitizing software.
I would definitely suggest you install your Horizon Link software (CD is in the box together with the manual and the instructional DVD) if you have not already done so and follow the inbuilt information (little blue ? in top right corner of each page). Your local Janome dealer can also provide you with assistance as this blog cannot offer this kind of detailed instruction.
The Janome iPad apps AcuEdit, AcuMonitor and AcuSetter are all for the MC15000. Not the MC12000.
There is another Janome app: AcuDesign which may be used with your MC12000. This does cost US$49.99 so maybe you are referring to this? It is an advanced editing app and is NOT the same as Acufil Quilting nor Horizon Link. You can look for AcuDesign on You Tube or iTunes for video’s and further information.
The My Mc12000 app I think you might be referring to is not a Janome product and you would need to contact the creator and seller of that app for more information.

I already have horizon link installed and updated. Guess I don’t have MBX at all. I bought the 12000 when it first came out. I haven’t kept up with things until now.
Have you looked at the app on the iPad store. It’s not by Janome (but it is for Janome 12000) sure sounds like they are saying acufil software is included, plus more. It’s called My 12000 and it’s by Software Miracles

There is no mention of Acufil Quilting kit and software on this app description in the App store. I believe that it is extremely unlikely that it would be included for that price. Yes, it may explain how to use the Acufil system but I don’t know as we don’t sell these apps. But as already said, you would need to query this with the manufacturer of the app.

Hate to keep bothering you but if you hit the play button, it says provides video and software (mentioned acufil, nothing about kit)but it does say software. In the writeup, nothing is said about acufil at all just on the video. Since no one seems to have purchased, maybe they are not sure as I was.

The MC 12000 has 4 hoops with the machine. In addition there are 2 other hoops available for purchase for the MC12000:
1. The RE 18 Essential hoop – Part #862407007. We have featured this hoop several times on this janomelife blog. Size: rectangle approx. 5×7 inches – 18 cm length.
2. The Acufil hoop: ASQ22 hoop in the Acufil Quilting Kit for Mc12000 Part # 859428004. Comes with the Acufil Tool software, hoop, hard template & 8 magnets. Size: approx. 8 inch square or 22 cm square. Please also refer to the janomelife blog for posts about the Acufil Quilting system. We have featured this many times.

Hi Liz, this is a little off the subject but I have bought the Acufil quilting kit for the 12000 and downloaded it to my computer but I cannot find the hoop in my machine, is there a separate update to install the ASQ22 hoop into the machine. I just did the V1.20 update for the RE hoop I can see this in the horizon link but not the machine.

The version 1.2 update for Mc12000 definitely has the RE hoop added to the machine. Did you perhaps not scrOll to the second screen of hoops? I am sure it is there if you uploaded the version 1.2 update correctly.

I have purchased the essentials hoop for my 15000. I have MBX V4.5 software but I cannot find this hoop on either. Please can you tell me which upgrades I need to see this hoop listed. I have used the hoop with extreme caution but this isn’t really satisfactory longterm

The hoops should show on the MC15000 machine IF you have updated your machine to the latest version (which is version 2). Similarly, MBX v4.5 should be showing the RE18 hoop in the drop down menu listing of hoops. Please check and if it is not there, you will need to contact either your local Janome dealer where you purchased your Janome machine, software & hoop or the Janome UK office.
