It was so nice to meet everyone and see all the beautiful quilts at the quilt show! So many talented people! And I have to be careful not to say ladies! As many men are taking up the craft. Here is Vic’s, who shared with us the process of his quilt.
I was honoured to meet Andrew. He was hovering by the machines when I asked if he wanted to give it a go and he didn’t hesitate to sit down! I set the speed control, showed him a few basic operations, lowering the presser foot, pivoting at corners with the programmable needle up/down and the side thread cutter.
He did really well guiding the fabric and trying different stitches. After he left, a friend came over and asked if I gave sewing lessons. I directed them to Janet from D&R, who was more then happy to discuss the possibilities!
What I didn’t realize, Andrew was at the quilt show as part of a fund raiser. All the proceeds from the raffled quilts went to Up About Down Windsor Essex Down Syndrome Association. He also had his line of shirts he designed! Group Hug Apparel started with Andrew wanting to go to university. His story is here and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Happy Quilting! Linda P.
