Ruffler Renaissance and Reader Requests

Dialing Up the Details

Threads, July 2015

Threads, July 2015

Spotted in the latest issue of Threads Magazine magazine this month: a feature article on Rediscovering the Ruffler. As many of the magazine’s readers know, Threads is the go-to source for lessons in fine detailing and couture sewing techniques in a world often overrun with fast-to-the-finish line projects.

The Janome  Ruffler accessory follows a similar path. It is not quite as convenient to use as our much-loved snap on accessory feet, but, once you take the time to get to know this little mechanical beauty, she can provide you with cut above attention to craft, decor and fashion sewing detail.

Here are some great references for learning more about our Ultimate Ruffler:

Until next time,

Happy Sewing!

I have a few questions. One when in 2016 is the next conference? How much is it to attend? Do you stay in the hotel? Do you need to bring anything to the conference?

  2. Linda says:

I would love to see a demo on the couching foot. Happy stitches.

  3. Joanne Smith says:

Having purchased many specialty feet from Janome and discarded the identifying packaging, I would love to know where I might find photos with info on each foot please.

  4. Jackie Higgs says:

Wow these machines and their attachments never cease to amaze me happy sewing.

  5. Linnie says:

I am especially interested in the circular attachment and would love to see it demonstrated,

  6. I agree with Colette. I would love to see the binding attachment, the larger one that has the zigzag type of attachment at the side which helps to hold the binding before it feeds onto the foot. I have the Janome 12000 and have the binder and the circular attachment. I would also like to see some finished products using the tools not just a small sample square as going around corners scares me for the binder. Thanks for helping with the information and also the videos. Regards, Nita

  7. Cher says:

being a new Janome 8900 owner, I would like a clearer explanation on the needle plates(when to change them ) and the accufeed feet. Enjoy reading all that is discussed , some does not apply to me yet, but keep it in the back of my mind for later. Love my machine so far, and circular attachment will be of interest to me as well,

Would like to see the circular attachment and the binding attachment in action (especially around the corners not just the straight seam!)
