This is a very nifty tool…..gives us the ability to draw with yarn just like we scribble with thread when we do free motion quilting. This is just with thicker yarn which obviously won’t fit through the eye of the needle. But Janome to the rescue: enter the Janome Free Motion couching foot which is a high shank foot and is therefore compatible with all our high shank sewing machines.

Hi Doreen,
There is no free motion couching foot for low shank machines. We can certainly put the request through to our R&D team to consider it.

That foot is a great foot. I have used it on my MC12000 and now my MC 15000 . Can I use it on my 8900? Could you discuss how to use the Couching embroidery files from H-V on my Janome? Do I use the brush out embroidery foot?

Hi Stephanie,
Yes, the free motion couching foot is for HIGH shank machines so is compatible with your Janome MC8900.
Idont think I can help you with the HV files query. You would need to ask Donna who knows both brands.
You can use the brush out foot – we have used that very successfully for couching yarns & such like in the embroidery hoop. The free motion couching foot works as well – not specifically designed for that but I tried it and it did seem to work.
