I recently traveled to Japan for our International Educators Conference at our factory and Head Office in Tokyo. It was wonderful to meet up with other Janome Educators from all around the world: Japan; The United Kingdom; America; Australia; Brazil; Germany; Scandanavia & me representing Canada. We got to see exciting new products coming this Fall 2015 as well as the opportunity to share what we have all been doing at our dealer’s stores and at shows in our own respective countries. I can’t tell you about the new products quite yet ….. but I can share some of the lovely projects the educators have been making.

A pillow made using the Skyline Home Décor sewing kit – a wonderful optional accessory for the Skyline series of machines – comes complete with project sheet and many feet to make fun things for the home. The project sheet was used to make this pillow. Note the use of the Janome Border Guide foot, Circular attachment and more.

a close up of the pillow showing the use of the Circular attachment to apply a string of metallic & crystal beads in a circle.

a very pretty & practical apron showcasing many different techniques such as pintucks, decorative stitching, gathering, applique and more. Again the project sheet for an apron in the Skyline kit: fashion & Finishing was used as a spring board to make this apron.

This quilt sample shows off many of the features and feet on our Janome machines: applique, circular attachment; decorative stitch embellishment, etc

And here is a rather lovely and strikingly different project idea: a necklace or pendant made with the Janome sewing machine; ruffler attachment and beading foot! Yes, the ladies in the Education Dept in Japan made these lovely pendants for us as gifts. I intend to make some more as unique gifts for friends – IF I can find the ribbon holder and chain here in Canada?
Thanks for sharing the pictures Liz! So many amazing and talented educators.

Very inspiring. When are you coming to Toronto (or nearby) to do a hands on class?

Hi Sheila,
Glad you liked the inspiration. I currently have no plans to do hands on classes in Toronto. I generally travel mostly in Western Canada. But you can discuss a possible hands on class with your dealer and ask them to contact our Toronto office in this regard.

What an amazing experience! And such beautiful projects. Check easy for the ribbon holder and chain. The ribbon holder is what many people are using to make the fabric key chains that are so popular right now. I ordered some a little heavier than what is shown in the photo for some projects. Love seeing designs like this from around the world!
