Yes, there is more……the ARTISTIC EDGE DIGITAL CUTTER  does a huge amount of different things…..here we offer Part 4 to show you even more creative fun:

Cutting self- adhesive vinyl.....and array of great projects to try using the Artistic Edge Digital Cutter

Cutting self- adhesive vinyl…..an array of great projects to try using the Artistic Edge Digital Cutter

Today we look at what you can do with a simple sheet of self- adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl:

  • Cut self-adhesive vinyl for window decals, decorations, boxes, tins, shoes, bags, etc.

Step 1: cut out the intricate tree from a sheet of self-adhesive sparkly vinyl. Take care to only cut the sticky vinyl part & not right through the paper peel off backing. Step2: Lift the tree from the mat using  a piece of transfer tape. Step 3: Stick down onto the candle or whatever object you wish to make pretty.

  •  I used the negative space from self adhesive vinyl cut-outs to stick onto wine glasses, shot glasses and toothbrush tumblers etc and then applied etching paste to the glass showing through the cut out. Wash off the paste & voila! you have a permanently etched glass……think wedding, Christmas, birthday parties and more.  (More info/how-to coming next month)

  • Cut Heat Transfer vinyl for applying onto T-shirts, onesies; pillows, bags and more. We just love these little onesies made for us by Allison B. on Vancouver Island.  Now there is simply never, ever going to be a point at which I would cut out that lettering with an X-acto knife. That is just ridiculous. …..Which is where our Artistic Edge Digital cutter proves it is simply superb…..type the lettering in whatever font & size you desire in the Simple Cut software…..send to the cutter……cut…….peel off the backing and iron/fuse onto the onesie.  It is just that simple.

  • Do BLING the super easy way…….gone, gone , gone is the tedious hot fix crystal wand with each crystal applied one at a time. Nooooooo…….our Simple cut software lets you create intricate crystal and rhinestone layouts for application  – attach ALL the crystals at the same time to paper, cardstock, fabric and more….even to onesies (see above)!

IMG_4526So how is this achieved?

Step 1  Select the Crystals Technique in the Simple Cut Software

Step 2 Bring in the shape or design you want to use. In our example we had the profile of a lady’s head or a flower. Choose the size and colour of crystals; automatic crystal array or you may click & drop crystals where you want them.  Delete or add crystals as you wish. When you are happy with the crystal arrangement, send this to the cutter.

Step 3 Stick a piece of template material to the cutting mat. The cutter will cut little holes the exact shape & size for your crystal choice.

Step 4: Peel this template material off the mat & paste it to a flat surface like a piece of backing board. Make sure all the little holes are free of the cut template material. If not, poke out the little cut bits or use a pair of tweezers to remove.

Step 5: Sprinkle the crystals over the template you have cut. Brush lightly so that the crystals drop into the holes glue side down & pretty side up. This happens pretty easily. Brush away any excess crystals and reserve for a future project.

Step 6: Pick up all the crystals at once with a sheet of transfer tape. The tape sticks to the pretty sparkly tops of the crystals. The glue side is clearly visible on the back.

Step 7: Press the transfer tape down onto the project where you want the crystals. Use the Artistic press or an iron to fuse the crystals in place. Don’t worry the transfer tape won’t melt. Peel the tape away and there you have it: BLING  with multiple crystals all in ONE application.

      Hi Terri,
Sorry, no, I cannot remember. One night I spent many hours down a “rabbit hole” on the Internet looking for images of snowflakes & cutting files. I saved the ones I liked and used one of them for my mug rug.
Just google: images of snowflakes and/or google for “free cutting files” Add in the word snowflake if you want to narrow the search a little. But make cup of coffee – you will need time and patience when surfing the web!!
