Remember the Sliding Guide foot for 7mm Janome machine models? Well, the good news is that we asked for the same foot for 9mm Janome machine models and …….good news is that these are now available in Canada…..WOOHOO, I am so pleased to announce this foot as it is a very useful addition to the wide range of optional accessory feet that Janome offers our loyal customers.
SG FOOT IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR JANOME 9MM WIDE STITCH MACHINE MODELS
So what is it? What does it do? A great (& often overlooked) place to start is the package insert instructions. YES, please don’t throw that cardboard out when you open up your new Janome foot. It often opens up like a little booklet with more information inside…….as below:
Notice the little grey clip at the back right of the foot? This allows you to move the sliding guide left right along the bar so that you may use the guide effectively from 3/8 inch all the way to over an inch 1). Click this grey clip back to hold the guide in your selected position
Move the needle position and you get even more width options with this foot from a scant 1/4 inch to more than an inch – 1 & 5/8 inches. Pretty cool, don’t you think?
I just quickly stitched in blue thread for photographic purposes.
This foot has lots of practical possibilities:
- 5/8 inch and other width seams have never been easier to get accurate.
- Top stitching on pockets, colours, home decor projects just got wonderfully more creative and easy to keep straight & even.
- Why stop at straight stitching? Use this foot for all sorts of decorative embellishment where precise positioning is required. This foot makes very light work of such techniques.
- Heirloom sewing techniques might just have acquired a new best friend – the Sliding Guide foot!

No, Diane, not this 9mm one as the 6600P is a 7mm machine model. HOWEVER, we have had a 7mm Sliding Guide foot for over a year which will work with your 6600P. Part # 202218005

Hi Donna,
Your MC12000 is a 9mm machine so yes, the Sliding Guide foot works with your machine. There is also a 7mm one available for JANOME 7mm models.

No, Sonia, because the Janome MC11000 is a 7mm machine model. However, we have already had this exact same foot for 7mm machines for over a year. Part # 202218005. Please see a previous blog post on December 3, 2014 entitled “All I want for Christmas ……is the NEW Janome Sliding Guide foot” (or search for sliding guide foot in the search box)

The SG foot sounds wonderful. Can’t wait to get one. Thanks for keeping us up to date with all the new things. I’m working at getting to understand the Artistic Simple Cut Software. It is coming because the girls that own the Edge Cutter are challenging me to learn it so that I can teach it. Quite a challenge, but it really keeps me working at it. Understanding how the software works is not my easiest challenge but it’s coming. If you have any extra hints, I’d be interested in knowing about them.

Glad you like the Sliding Guide foot. It is a most useful addition to our range of accessories.
The notes you got at the recent Artistic Edge training are pretty detailed. Plus don’t forget the Edge video’s on You Tube & iTunes. There are more coming in the next few months too. And also go through the Quick Start Guide + the resources I pointed you all towards.
My biggest tip: the more you use the Simple Cut and the Edge cutter, the easier it becomes. Practice makes perfect!
