Ron was teaching with me at the Saskatchewan Stitches Conference in Muenster, Saskatchewan recently. Perhaps you might be unaware of the fact that Ron has been a Janome artisan for some years? This means that Ron uses our Janome sewing machines & sergers for his sewing and also promotes our brand in his classes as well as he offers guest blog posts on janomelife from time to time.
Ron is a local Saskatoon guy and is very well known in Canadian sewing circles and sewing shows as well as being a co-presenter on the long running and very popular TV show & sewing video series : “Power Sewing” with Sandra Betzina.

Ron sews on the Janome 6600P, The 1200D serger and the 1600P straight stitch machine. He is well set up, don’t you think?? Complete with ironing board to the left of the machines. The chairs were rather low so Ron piled pillows on the chair to get better ergonomics for his sewing. I did exactly the same at my desk in my room although I was working on my computer and not the machines Ron was having sewing joy with!
You can imagine my interest level jumped when we asked if I wanted to see his “sewing set up” in his room at the Conference. Ron does not “waste away” his evening hours…..here he is busy at work sewing up a storm of garments for his next series of classes…..and possibly his summer wardrobe?! Here he was busy with some very chic board shorts for summer in orange fabric with blue trim. As always, his technique and finish is extremely professional.
Thanks for showing me your set up, Ron……I think I am going to do the same next year. I don’t live close by like Ron to bring my own “sewing room” along but perhaps I can borrow a machine from Wendy for fun extra-curricular evening sewing……..Now I just need to figure out why I did not think of this myself before now!
