Sewing a knit fabric seam using the lightning stitch and the Acufeed Flex foot - effortless AND it achieved the results I was looking for!!

Sewing a knit fabric seam using the lightning stitch and the Acufeed Flex foot – effortless AND it achieved the results I was looking for!! Liz (Janome Canada Educator) loves this foot

The Acufeed Flex  is the name we give to the superior and highly effective “walking foot” system that a number of our Janome machine models have for us to enjoy! Seriously, Acufeed Flex is a bit like a walking foot on steriods! Our 7 point box feed dog system paired with the upper feed dogs working in perfect harmony with the lower feed dogs make this an amazing foot. This particular Acufeed flex foot is the narrow single prong one with the clip on VD foot. I use it for a LOT of sewing: 1/4 inch seams as well as sewing garments, inserting piping, decorative stitching an much more. I have to remind myself we have many other Janome feet to use as this has become my go-to foot.  Why? Because it slimline and sleek, feeds just wonderfully and gives me the great swing results I like to see on my projects.

Compatible with all Janome models with the Acufeed Flex system.  It is a standard foot with some models such as the Janome Horizon MC15000 and  Horizon 9400QDC.

Ask your local Janome dealer today about the Acufeed Flex single prong foot holder and VD attachment.

Liz, this article says the Accufeed narrow foot is standard with the 9400. Is this correct, should it come with the 9400? Thank you.

      Hi Irene,

We must have made an error when we wrote those posts. The MC9400 comes Standard with the dual prong Acufeed Flex foot but NOT the narrow one with VD attachment. This is an optional accessory for the MC9400. It is real hard for us all to keep track of what feet come with each machine and we slip up from time to time. Sorry!

I have a MC8900, I need a narrow stitch in the ditch foot for the accufeed narrow foot or just a narrow AND foot for my machine. Does Janome make a narrow SND foot for the 8900? Thx.

I also need a 1/4″ foot to use with this narrow accufeed, is there one? Thx.

        Hi Irene,

Not at this stage although we have asked for this. Fingers crossed we get it someday?! But I do nonetheless use the VD foot on my narrow Acufeed Flex foot and move my needle position to where I need it for 1/4 inch seam. I also use my cloth guide to guide the fabric – I set it for 1/4 inch. Or you can put a strip of the sticky purple stuff (Wendy sells it – It is a Marci Baker product) on your needle plate as a guide.

      Hi Irene,

Sorry, we do not have this for the narrow Acufeed flex foot. Only for the dual prong one.

  3. You show it with knits and quilt binding – can you say that you use it almost all the time for almost every job or do you keep it for specific projects, like knits and quilt binding. (I’m glad you are showing us this by the way, I buy these things and the get annoyed with myself because I don’t have someone show me how and when to use them proper! silly me!)

      Hi Linda,

It is designed for straight stitching only. However, it does work fine with some decorative stitches with side to side movement. So yes I use it for quite a lot of sewing besides knits & quilt binding.
Your local Janome dealer where you buy your Janome accessories should be the one to show you how to use them. There are also many video’s online (Try the Janome America You Tube site as well as Accessories tab on http://www.janome.com. We also have a fabulous APP for Apple and Android with video’s of dozens and dozens of feet & accessories. Google to find the link – it is a free APP. Or search in the search box on janmelife homepage as I know I have mentioned this APP several times on janomelife.

I have to agree with you Liz. I know the large Acufeed foot is good BUT I prefer this nice slim foot & use it a lot more. Merry Christmas to you & thanks for all your interesting blogs.

Accufeed “Flex” ?…..so….my 6600p has an accufeed system but it looks like a much larger connection…so…I am guessing this foot can not be used with it? 😦
