GOOD INFORMATION ABOUT USING YOUR JANOME EMBROIDERY MACHINE TO DO YOUR QUILTING

Happy Easter Monday! Cute bunny over at Thread Riding Hood. Sherri is one of our Janome Artisans in Canada. She has just published a great blog post with very good information with step-by-step instructions of how to use your Janome embroidery machine to do your quilting.……letting the embroidery unit and hoop do the work of quilting. Aaahhh…….what a way to lighten the load and get the job done quickly and perfectly using Janome AcuDesign App and Janome embroidery! You may wish to check it out.

Sherri is using the Janome Skyline S9 sewing and embroidery combo machine but this same technique can be achieved easily on all of our Janome embroidery machines. Some models have a dedicated hoop for this: the Acufil Quilting hoops (MC11000; MC12000; MC15000, MC500E).

Have you tried quilting with your embroidery hoop?? Perhaps you’d like to share some of your Janome machine embroidery quilting successes on our comment forum? We’d love to hear from you.

Hi Liz, Thank you for your help at the CreativFestival (demonstrating all the feet for my new S9). I am interested in quilting an entire quilt using the embroidery function. Is that possible or can you only quilt smaller items like blocks or pillows?

      Hi Sherry,

The S9 does not have the Janome Acufil quilting option. But you could try to quilt using your embroidery hoop. And yes, you could embroider a whole big quilt.

The only minus for me is that it only works with the APP for I-phone or I-pad.
I would like to have a android-version too.

    Have a nice day

      Hi Barb,

Yes, you most 100% definitely can! There is a special Acufil Kit for 500E that is available as an optional accessory. Please ask your local Janome Dealer to order one for you. Part # is 864402008.

I love my 15000 for the Accuquilt feature. Once tried, I have not looked back and have quilted whole quilts successfully right from the first try. Here are two quilt blocks for a quilt I am making for Canada’s 150th birthday. I have found that if you use the tack down feature to run a “basting” stitch around the perimeter, the quilting pattern is unlikely to shift. Sorry, I don’t see where to attach photos.

        Hi Heather,

Yes, I don’t think you are able to attach photo’s which is a pity as we’d love to see your work. We are thrilled to hear you like Acufil Quilting as much as we do. And thanks for sharing the tip about basting – good information.
