Introducing a new Janome Canada Artisan: Crystal McCart

We are very pleased to introduce you to Crystal from Thunder Bay, Ontario  as our newest Janome Canada Artisan. Crystal will be working with us on her Janome CPX2000 Coverhem machine.  Crystal also uses a serger and the Janome Skyline S7 when making clothes for herself and little people.

Crystal tells us a little about herself: “My sewing story begins in 2013. I was wandering around Downtown Melbourne Australia one day with no plans when I happen upon a Sewing Studio with a sign out front: “Introduction to Sewing – Class open today!”. I found the concept intriguing and I walked in. That day changed my life. I became engulfed in all things sewing; my pattern collection began to form and my fabric addiction continues to grow to this day. I spend at least 1 hour (sometimes 10) with my sewing machines every day. I’ve sewn an entire wardrobe for myself with custom fit clothing. I ventured into sewing for friends with new babies and from there I decided to launch my own business, Chrystalclearrr, which is focused on clothing for the tiny humans in the world. You can find me on instagram @chrystalclear_”

We wish Crystal much joy and happiness on her recent wedding. I think you will agree she is a beautiful bride!

Crystal’s baby clothes are sized Preemie to 2T.  “I started making them because so many of my friends were reproducing and I love to give unique handmade gifts. After I made a few items and received extremely positive feedback, I knew I could turn my passion for sewing into my own business. My education is in business and I’ve always worked in the field in some capacity so this made launching my business relatively easy for me. Because I’m creating items for a delicate customer – the adorable tiny humans of the world – my items need to be comfortable, convenient, and be safe. How do you make baby clothes safe? You make sure your fabrics are of higher quality to guarantee the fabric will last through multiple washes and be soft to their skin. But one of the largest ways to keep baby clothing safe is to make sure it is sewn to a high standard:  Janome makes this easy; with multiple stitch options available I can make sure all my seams are professionally sewn and finished with no loose threads to tangle in baby’s finger and toes. I can easily serge and coverstitch all my seams so no linings flap around and all zipper edges are enclosed so nothing sharp touches baby’s precious skin.”

Thanks for sharing, Crystal. We look forward to more good advice and inspiration as you work more with your Janome 2000CPX.

Here are some pics of the clothing Crystal makes for little people:

What do you sew on your Janome Coverhem machine – 900CPX; 1000CPX or 2000CPX?

I know I could not live without my 1000CPX;  Crystal is totally into her 2000CPX…….. so let us know why you love yours!
