Janome’s Got You Covered

When I work at the quilting/ sewing shows, I’m sometimes asked “Did my machine come with……….?”

While I’d love to say that I always know the answer to what comes with each and every machine in the Janome line; sometimes I do, but more often than not I give the same response, “Consult your owner’s manual.”

I certainly don’t mean that as a copout to not answer the specific question, but the machine manual is indeed a fantastic source of information. At the front will be a list of all the presser feet and accessories with very helpful diagrams to easily identify each piece. The part numbers are included as well should you wish to purchase replacements if one foot goes missing down the road, or, who doesn’t need more bobbins?

Now, don’t panic. I know what some of you are thinking. You haven’t seen that owner’s manual for years, or, as one lady told me, her dog literally ate it! Whatever the case, Janome has you covered. You’ll find dozens of sewing machine manuals on the Janome.com website by clicking on the “Support” tab, then selecting the “Manuals” button. Or, simply follow the link here. https://www.janome.com/en/support/manuals/ I even found the manual to my 26 year old machine under the “Retired” section. What does that say about me? lol!

Whenever you get a new machine it’s a good idea to unpack everything from the box and find the manual, which for many Janome machines, like the fabulous Memory Craft 6700P, is conveniently right on top.

Once everything is unpacked and the packaging is all cleared away (save it all with the box together with the custom molded foam inserts), empty the bag of accessories and compare it with the list found in the front of the machine owner’s manual. This is a great time to identify each piece so you know which presser feet you have for what job. Sewing  buttonholes, or a blind hem,for example?  Further in your manual you’ll find instructions on how to sew said buttonhole or blind hem with a description and/or drawing of which presser foot to use.

A cool and very convenient accessory box !is included with the Memory Craft 6700P so it makes very quick & easy organizing of all those wonderful presser feet (there’s 17 included!) and accessories, like the Straight Stitch needle plate and special HP needle plate and presser foot.

It’s a little thing, but one of my favourite parts of this accessory case is the little bobbin holder which can be removed from the case and set near the machine. I just love having all the bobbins I’ll need for a project close at hand, all conveniently and securely housed so they won’t roll away. Janome thinks of everything!

While giving a presentation at one our fabulous Janome dealers I met a lady who brought her sewing machine manual with her. She said she always brought it along to all the shows and Janome events so she could compare which presser feet and accessories came with her machine and then purchase all the new goodies, new presser feet, etc. and be sure they were compatible. LOVE her! What a great idea!
