We are just back from Quilt Canada 2018 which was held in the prestigous Vancouver Convention Centre on the waterfront of downtown Vancouver, BC. It was a lovely venue for our annual National Quilt show and Conference. I won’t report back on all aspects of the show as I know we have more to tell you in another post but I would like to show you Best of Show which was sponsored by Janome + a few other things.  Janome also sponsored 3 classrooms of machines (our Janome M100 )+ 1 Elna classroom (the EL560) + the NJS Guide + the Grand door prize (Janome MC9400) so we are heavily invested in and supportive of our relationship with the Canadian Quilter’s Association and quilters in Canada. We value our connection to you all!

Just so you know…..there are some classroom machines still available for purchase: we opened them brand new on Wednesday last week for set up and people sewed on them for just the 3 show days. So they really cannot be called used…..they are still so very new. Selected Janome and Elna dealers (mainly in Western Canada I think) will have some of these available at attractive pricing. Do call your local Janome or Elna Canada dealer to ask if they can get you one and for pricing information. Click on the links above for more information about these specific models. And also….just so you know……many people who sewed on them came to thank us as they had such an easy time working on them and totally enjoyed their quilting classes at Quilt Canada.

Best of Show sponsored by Janome Canada ($6000 cash prize) went to Helen Fujiki of Ontario for this quilt entitled The Wet Spring of 2017.

Helen has won a number of ribbons….her “Election Euphoria” entry in 2016 which also won Best of Show was a  similar style to this winning quilt above……vibrant, bright swirls of colour and beautiful quilting.

Judy Leslie of Vancouver, BC won a ribbon for this quilt. Judy is also a multiple ribbon winner and this one entitled “Spring on Castle Mountain” (near Osoyoos) was pretty striking with its 3D wool felted work and intricate and beautiful thread painting.

Janome also sponsored the Grand door prize together with HA Kidd (thread) and Trendtex Fabrics who gave a giant basket of all sorts of fabric and notions including a bottle of wine! Janome offered the fabulous MC9400 – top of the line sewing and quilting machine to the very lucky winner……Gail…..who was already on her way to Whistler when CQA called her to tell her she had won the Grand Door prize. She turned around and came back she was so excited! Enjoy all your fabulous goodies, Gail!

Sponsors of the Grand Door prize gather round the table laden with prizes just before the draw took place: Debbie on far left from Janome, HA Kidd and TrendTex reps either side of the table and Erin from Janome on far right.

Erin took lots of pics at the show so I will stop now as I know she will be working on sharing more with you soon! If you were not in Vancouver for Quilt Canada 2018, we are sorry you missed out on the fun but we hope to see you in Ottawa in 2019!

So frustrating . I just want to price a large hoop for my mc9900 and upgrade my digitizer software however cannot buy online or price fo that matter. I live in a rural area so help is needed to find this online.

      Hi Nancy,

Janome operates through a dealer network. You don’t mention where you are situated but both janome.com and janome.ca have dealer locators so you can find a dealer near you or one who would be prepared to ship to your rural location – many of our dealers are more than happy to do this. Check ot our dealer listings and contact those who you think might be able to assist you. I will tell you that the largest hoop for the MC9900 came standArd with the machine. There is a optional hoop but it is a smaller free arm one – not bigger than what came with the machine.
