One of my favourite combinations on the Janome MC9400 is the HP foot and needle plate. As a quilter, I value the ability of a sewing machine to make a good straight stitch and a perfect 1/4″ seam. I get both by using the HP foot and needle plate and it’s become my go-to set up for piecing.
I know that not everyone who uses the Janome MC9400 is a quilter: some may be using this machine for sewing garments and, if this is your preferred type of sewing, you’ll love the HP foot and needle plate too.
When you install the HP needle plate, the Janome MC9400 automatically cancels out any stitches that can’t be created when this needle plate is in place and advises you as to which straight stitches are available. This prevents you from choosing a stitch that wouldn’t work with this single stitch needle plate.
There are several straight stitch choices to choose from and, by altering the length of these stitches, you can create variations on these beautiful straight stitches. Lots of stitches to choose from that would be suitable for top stitching on collars, hems, and cuffs.

The Jnaome HP foot and needle plate is compatible with MC15000; MC6700 and MC9400.

I like the dual extra thread holder. On your 9400. I tried to purchase at Amazon but says it’s for 8900

Hi Geri,
It is always best to ask your local authorized Janome dealer for the information you require. I am not 100% sure which dual thread holder you are referring to? Do you mean the extra spool pin? If so, it does come with the MC9400 and your dealer should be able to order it for you. Or did you mean the Spool stand for 2 spools? Again – your dealer can order this for you.

Hi Linda,
The HP foot and plate works together with features and firmware in the machine. It is not simply a matter of exchanging the needle plate and foot. There are only 4 specific stitches that may be used with this system and they all have altered needle positions to accommodate the foot & plate. There are only 3 models that have the correct firmware and needle plate sensors to be compatible with this foot and plate. The MC12000 does not have this system. Sorry.
