Embroidery design information is essential in helping to choose the fabric, stabilizer, thread weight, and colors. Artistic Digitizer aids our decision making by providing all these little details right on the screen for us.
Open the program and bring in one of the images for auto digitizing from the main screen. When the design opens it is already in stitches. We can then recolor, reorder, and resize the design to our liking.
The Eagle image is one of the built in designs in the Artistic Digitizer program. We changed a few of the colors and changed the stitch order in the sequence boxes.
Before we stitch this design, we need some more details that will help us decide what choices to make at our embroidery machine. In the lower left corner of the screen are all the details we need to aid us in our decision making.
These details listed in the program help me to make good choices. Since this is a fairly small design and has 9000 stitches, it tells us it is pretty dense. We may choose to use a lighter weight thread to stitch this with so it is not so stiff. We will also use a sturdy fabric with a medium to heavy weight tear away stabilizer to prevent puckers from the dense stitch count. There are 14 thread changes. Perhaps we may want to re-digitize the pattern and have fewer thread changes to make the design stitch faster.
Just because a design looks good on the screen of the program does not mean it will stitch well. You can ruin a design that is well digitized very quickly by making poor choices at the machine. Have your threads, stabilizers, fabric choices, etc. reflect the properties of the design itself or you can have poor results.

We spoke when you were in PG last week, I have the MC 10000 and was wondering where I can find outline stitching for my embroidered towels.

Hi Pat,
I believe you are the lady with the MC10000. If so, we spoke about basting around an embroidery design (towels) so you don’t need to hoop the towel. You would float the towel over hooped stabilizer and then baste the towel to the stabilizer. As the MC10000 does not have such a basting function in embroidery mode, I mentioned you would need to do a google search for such a design online. Unfortunately I don’t have the details of a website nor those designs at my fingertips. I merely know it does exist online – either possibly free or for purchase. I would suggest again that the best will be for you to do your own online search and/or join an online chat group for Janome embroidery machines (there are number of these – some on Facebook) where you can ask other Janome embroidery users where they may have found such basting designs for the A and B hoops o the MC10000.
I also mentioned that if you owned embroidery software you would be able to digitize your own basting design very easily. It can also be done in the free AcuSketch App. Please refer to your dealer; our Janome website (www.janome.com) or other janomelife posts for further information on our software programs and Apps.

I was able to find one location for the basting stitch that could work, which would be great. I so want to get the most out of my machine, I feel I am now, thanks to you. I look forward to when you come again.
One final thought would you worry about the clothsetter extention say maybe for the giga hoop designs. They had also mentioned the blue dot bobbin case would I need that one as well?

We are glad you gained some information last weeeknd to help you with your Janome MC10000
As regards the Clothsetter, you will find this very useful for placement of your embroideries in the hoop as well as a third hand when hooping. You will still need embroidery software to split larger designs for the giga hoop. The design sews out in hoop sews in 2 halves in the giga hoop so it must be split first before hooping and stitching.
The blue dot bobbin case is extremely useful for free motion quilting as well as the hand look quilting stitch. Please refer to other posts on Janomelife about these topics. We have frequently offered information about the blue dot bobbin case. If you intend to do free motion quilting or the hand look quilt stitch, I would highly recommend the blue dot bobbin case.
