YAY!!………MADEIRA THREAD is now available through Janome and Elna Canada Dealer stores!

Nothing new about Madeira thread.  What is new is that Janome Canada has just become the distributor for Madeira thread. You may ask any Janome or Elna dealer across Canada if they will be stocking this very popular thread.  If they don’t already stock it or have displays on order, you sure can tell them you are keen to buy it……. Only saying this as we recently had pic’s on Instagram and Facebook and many people were asking where they can buy this thread…….so do  feel free to let your favourite Janome or Elna dealer know you want it!

So what Madeira thread is available? We are starting off with several different types of Madeira thread but if there is a demand, we will certainly consider adding more lines.

I’ve been using Madeira embroidery thread & polyneon embroidery thread + Madeira metallic for close on 12 years. Madeira metallic thread is hands down the best metallic thread I have ever used.  Don’t you hate it when a metallic thread keeps breaking and drives you crazy?  Madeira metallic does not do this!  I have also just used Madeira Aeroquilt thread for several quilting projects and I’m hooked. And polyneon has long been a go to favourite embroidery thread for me. None of the Madeira threads I have used have disappointed – which is a good thing as I’m quite fussy and have zero tolerance for fiddling with sub-standard thread issues. I’m sure you will agree with me that our sewing and creating time is valuable and should be FUN, not frustrating, so I have no hesitation in highly recommending Madeira threads.

Let’s start with machine embroidery thread: As already mentioned above, I have used Madeira poly neon for many years and totally love it. The colours are strong, clear and bright and as it is polyester thread, it is strong (so it rarely, if ever, breaks) and it is colourfast. And you still have that nice sheen we expect for our machine embroidery. Win-win-win I reckon. We have various sizes of  spools and cones (400m and 1000m). We also have polyneon in multi-colour in 200m spools

I am totally in love with the Thread Treasure chest with 2 drawers chock full of 48 spools of polyneon (each one a useful 400m) as in the pic below. I have my heart set on using those super cute drawers for all sorts of things…..maybe jewellery? Once I have used up the thread of course!  The pic below shows the mini Thread chest. Don’t you love it?

There is also a larger thread chest available: 190 spools of polyneon; 4 spools of bobbinfil and an Embroidery design CD. Ask your local Janome dealer about this wonderful treasure!

I find these small spools very handy as they pack a punch of colour, the thread tucks into the spool end easily so you don’t have a rat’s nest of thread in your drawer or dangling from your thread rack  Plus I can line up all my spools as I embroider my project.

We also have a Mini thread chest of cotton thread: 30 spools of solid colours of Cotona 50wt thread each 1000m.

We also have larger spools available. Please ask your local Janome or Elna dealer for more information about which Madeira thread they are (or might be) stocking soon.

Next up is the Madeira AeroQuilt thread (above). This is pretty awesome on lovely large 2750m cones and available in solid and multi colours. I have test driven it on several quilting projects so far: regular free motion on domestic Janome sewing machines; quilting-in-the-hoop (using my Janome embroidery machine to quilt my quilt) AND on our Janome QMP18 longarm quilter. I used AeroQuilt thread for both free motion on the longarm as well as computerized quilting using the Pro Stitcher tablet – and I set the speed deliberately fast to see if I could get a thread break.  I am pleased to say that these large cones of 40wt poly quilting thread worked brilliantly!  I had zero thread breakage (which those of you who quilt know is a rare pleasure) and there was very little, if any, lint. Bonus!

We are also distributing other Madeira threads:

  • such as Aerolock (2000m and 2500m cones of serger thread) as well as a Mini king box of Aerolock containing 24 x1200m spools in black, white and grey (8 of each colour)
  • Aeroflock (1000m mini king cones of thicker fluffy or “wooly” textured thread) perfect for embellishment and decorative serger work
  •  …………..and more to come as you ask your dealers and we respond to your requests by bringing in more Madeira for your sewing pleasure.

We are currently test driving this thread as it lands on our sewing tables and we will tell you more in later posts, but all the indications are that the Madeira quality is living up to its great name and reputation and we are all going to be super happy with our stitching.

Is there anybody in Halifax (or nearby) who sells Madeira Aerolock No. 125 Serger thread? I got a box of six shades from black/grey/beige/white with my serger – it’s a wonderful thread but I’m using up what I have and would like to replace and add a couple of colours. Ordering it online is prohibitively expensive – I’d be happy to purchase it locally if I could.

      Hi
I believe you are referring to the Hilos Iris serger thread box which was given with sale of select sergers recently. It was not madeira thread which is a different brand although we do distribute both brands. Our dealer locator is on our website: http://www.janome.ca. Please ask them to order the thread for you.

Thanks for getting back to me. What I got with my Baby Lock Evolution serger was definitely Madeira Aerolock No. 125 Serger thread. I’ve been using it and finding it works very well. I’ve used the light grey a lot – that is the one I’d like to restock and I’d pick up some navy if possible. I’ve looked at the dealer list and I’ll contact a couple of those nearest me and see if anyone has the Madeira thread.

If they don’t already carry them, perhaps you can convince them to order for you? If nOt, let me know and I’ll ask on my end who has it. Maybe they would ship to you?
