At Quilt Canada 2017 we had a VERY exciting new addition to the Janome booth – a rather BIG addition! The show launched the official Canadian debut of the fabulous Janome Quilt Maker Pro 18, Janome’s longarm quilting machine. The Janome QMP 18 comes with a 12 foot frame, which conveniently comes in three, 4 foot sections, so it’s easy to ship, easy to assemble and can fit in a variety of spaces set up at 4 feet, 8 feet or 12 feet.
To offer even more flexibility, Janome has available 2 foot sections so your Janome QMP 18 can be set-up to 6 feet, or 10 feet, as well. Lots of options; lots of versatility.
To further meet the needs and desires of consumers, Janome JUST released the NEW Janome Quilt Maker Pro 16, which comes with a 5 foot wide x 4 foot deep frame and unique HOOP loading system. This is perfect for those who don’t have the space, or just don’t want or need a bigger machine. It’s also easier on the budget.
Instead of attaching the three layers of your quilt sandwich to separate rollers as with the traditional longarm set-up, the Janome Quilt Maker 16 has a Hoop frame with easy to position clamps which keep your quilt in place. It’s a modern spin on the old-fashioned quilting frame from Grandma’s day.
The Janome Quilt Maker 16 , with 16 x 9 inches of throat space, looks similar to, and shares many cool features of the larger Janome Quilt Maker Pro 18, which has 18 x 9 inches. My favourite feature is the magnets with LED lights underneath on either side of the LCD screen. SEW convenient!
The LCD screen looks a little different, but has the same terrific features; two modes of stitching: Manual or Stitch Regulated; two further modes of Stitch Regulation: Precision and Cruise; needle UP/Down; USB port for updates…..the list goes on!
Be sure to check out Janome’s You Tube Channel to watch “Quilting with Kelley“, hosted by Kelley McKenzie, Educator with Janome America and resident longarm expert. She and the production team have created 19 NEW videos to help get you started on with the Janome Quilt Maker Pro 16. She’s also a real sweetheart, too!
Since the Janome Quilt Maker Pro 16 is JUST making it’s debut, be sure to check with your Janome dealer ahead of time to see if they’ll have one in their showroom and available for a test-drive.
I have a Janome 6600 that I like very much; had Bernina. There are several presser feet from the Bernina I would like to use on the Janomre 6600. Can you advise me on what type of adaptation I need?
Thank you.

Hi Mona,
We don’t recommend using an adaptor as we don’t make these and therefore have no control over quality or how effectively they work. However, our feet are very inexpensive so Im sure you will be surprized at how little they will cost in comparisons to some other brands. Please check this link which is an accessory catalogue of our feet and accessories. http://www.janome.ca/siteassets/learn/accessory-guide-bilingual.pdf
