Open the Artistic Digitizer program on your laptop. On the main screen, click on the word ‘browse’ to see all the built in vector drawings ready for digitizing. You can find the folder with the vector drawings at C:/Users/Public/Documents/Artistic Digitizer 1.0 Samples. Scroll though the images and select a simple design. Double click on the design to open it onto the work space.
I chose a simple two color vector based design from the folder. When I opened it, the auto digitizing assigned the stitches that the program figured would look best. This overlapping design is two colors and has satin stitches applied.
Although this design is lovely as it is, I changed my mind about the look I wanted to achieve. I want to make this look more like a hand stitched design. I also want more contrast in my colors.
I used the selection tool and clicked on the pale colors of the design to select them. I clicked on the fill bucket icon in the lower left corner of the screen and changed the pale color to a bright pink instead.
Now that I have the high contrast in my colors, I want to quickly change the stitch assignments to reflect a simple cross stitch design. Using the select tool, move the cursor onto a blank space on the work table and RIGHT CLICK>Select all. This is a quick way to select every element of the design. The properties box at the right side of the screen will open.
In the properties box, under the fill tab, click on ‘Cross’ and set the repeats to 1 and the cell size to 0.050 inches. This will give a Petit Point look to the design when the stitches are applied.
The new design quickly changed from the old design with simple click. The new design has a totally different look and feel to the original design.
It takes very little time using Artistic Digitizer to try out different looks for a design with a few clicks. Take some time to look through the vector based artwork in the software program and play around applying some different stitch properties. You can come up with some very unique designs that will give you a very satisfying look to your embroidery.
