SUNDAY SEWING WITH JANOME

Sunday Sewing is fast becoming one of my favourite things to do…….I get to sew something and tell you what’s under my needle. YAY! Or in this case, perhaps it is more accurate to say: “what’s under our needles ” as I did not make all the blocks shown in this post.

This peacock body is an applique and the stitch fill in the background of the tail feathers was omitted. The quilting around the peacock was Ambiance quilting (stippling) digitized in our Embroidery software : Both Artistic Digitizer and Janome Digitizer MBX have this feature)

We have had a big project in the works with our Janome Canada Education team for many months – actually since the late Fall last year.

Our Lotus flower design where some of the stitch fill was substituted for fabric with more embroidery on top of the fabric – and hot fix crystals too.

And here is one of the Acufil quilted blocks. Our education team got to pick whatever quilting design they wanted to use on their blocks: designs from our Janome Acufil Tool software (as in this pic); quilting designs built-into the embroidery machine or a quilting design of their own choice. All were quilted on this hexagon print turquoise fabric. Some were done with aqua coloured thread so the texture was seen more than the actual quilting. Here a low contrast thread colour was used (a light lime/yellow) to show up the quilting a little more.

I am sewing on the Janome Continental M7 and using the Acufeed Flex foot with the ditch quilting sole plate. I find that useful for this as it rides down between the 2 blocks and helps me guide as I butt them together and zig-zag. This same technique can be done with any Janome machine that has a zig-zag.

more Lotus flowers

And another peacock.

I know you may be wanting to see the 3 quilts but , alas, sorry, they are not ready yet so you will need to wait a bit.  What’s under my needle today is finishing the stitching down of the sashing strips with Serpentine stitch…… Patience.

What’s under your Sunday sewing needle? Please post pic’s to Instagram and #JanomeCanada….that way we can see what’s under your needle.
