Elongating your satin stitches

Do you recognize the stitches around the edge of this apron? Maybe? Maybe not? They are found on many of our Janome sewing machines but have been elongated . The best thing about this feature is that we can stretch out our satin stitches to get cool new looking decorative embellishments without losing the satin stitch quality of the stitches.

(food mixer design is available exclusively at our Janome Canada dealers  – see our website for details about how you can get these Sew4home exclusive designs)

Did you know you can elongate your satin stitches on many of our Janome sewing machines?

Zipper bags made by Jen Tryon showing one of the satin stitches elongated 5 times to get very different stitches. Grey thread on black vinyl.

We have  a video for you on our Janome Life You Tube channel where we explain how to elongate satin stitches, what threads to use, what needle to use, how to combine different elongated stitches with other decorative stitches.  Plenty good info in this video so do check it out. And please ring the bell and subscribe to our You Tube channel as that way you will get informed when we publish new videos – we add more each week.

and  a combo of elongated satin stitches with another daisy or star stitch. This was stitched using the border guide foot to achieve such regularly spaced and straight rows.

Are you keen to try out some elongation on your Janome? We hope so!

Hi Liz, I’m looking forward to trying some of these stitches. I’ve contacted my local Janome Dealer about the Days of the Week Embroidery designs but they don’t know anything about them. I’d love to get the designs. I’m redecorating my kitchen and have just bought new tea towels and they’d be perfect to embroider them! Can you let me know how I get them – Thanks!

      Hi Kay,

ALL our dealers receive information emails from us regularly. I believe the one in June explained all about this program and how they could access the designs to pass on to their customers. They also know they can always phone me (they all have my Tel #) and I will be happy to explain. But you are welcome to tell her you spoke to me and I suggested that she, or one of her staff, phone me for this information about where to get the designs. It is a marketing initiative hence we are not providing them as a download from our website. You must get them from your dealer.

I sewed a cozy beautiful blue jean blanket decorated with elongated stitches. It was fun experimenting with all the stitches and I ended up with a blanket I have on my bed all winter long.
