Continental M7 Professional Workbook

In order to make the most of the Continental M7 Professional, Janome wants its customers to learn as much as possible about the possibilities. Yes the machine comes with the user manual which is very explanatory and well illustrated, but it only describes the use of the features of the device.

In order to help our loyal clientele, Janome presents a new workbook… Continental M7 Workbook!

M7WB

This one hundred and twenty-eight (128) page workbook has been developed to give you a better understanding of your Continental M7 Professional sewing machine and to help you use all its features with complete confidence.

The best way to learn your machine is to sew. There are instructions and patterns for twenty square quilts, which will familiarize you with the functions of your Continental M7 Professional. In section twenty-three (23) of this workbook, you will find instructions for assembling them into a quilt.

In the list of materials and at the beginning of each section, Janome has listed the accessories and techniques you will need to use. It allows you to use this workbook as a reference guide to go back to it and quickly find the instructions for a particular technique.

Throughout your learning, you will enjoy doing practical exercises as well as trying some fun techniques to help you make the best use of your new machine. Whatever your level of sewing, this workbook will be a reference guide to which you can refer at any time to learn something new or simply to refresh your memory.

Check with your local Janome authorized dealer to order your Continental M7 Professional Workbook.  These have now arrived but are selling like hot cakes so be sure you order one from your Janome Canada dealer ASAP.

Love my Continental M7 and ordered the workbook from The Sewing Machine Store this afternoon.

I have a question, and need an answer quickly as I’m sewing in a zipper to a “HOCKEY” bag. I purchased a 52″ heavy duty zipper, nylon thread that to me is worse that fishing line for wiry. Wound a bobbin, put in a top stitch #16 needle and threaded up the machine. Now I’m scared to turn the M7 on to sew. The bobbin and upper tension pull at different rates. Should I be by-passing the tension disk in the bobbin case – that scares me too as I’ve never, ever done that. The thread is also much thicker than anything I’ve used before ie: thread for jeans which I only used in the needle.

PS: Of course the kid needs the hockey bag sooner rather than later – practice and games several times a week.

      Hi Cheryl,
I’m currently on vacation so this will be a quick answer. Why don’t you experiment and try on a scrap of the fabric first? No need to be afraid of that top stitch 16 – it is perfectly OK. And sew slowly at first to see what stitching results. Adjust tensions as necessary but I would not suggest bypassing the bobbin tension as you are not doing bobbin work. If the nylon thread is too thick or stretchy, ditch it and use a strong polyester thread.

Thanks Liz, I did ditch the nylon – Jim can use it for trapping or fishing. I bought some denim top stitching thread and it is strong enough as Jacob will probably blow this zipper too and need a new bag in the next year and half or so. The biggest challenge is that these zippers are sewn in before the bag has a solid 18″ wide bottom that is about 45″ long riveted to the bottom – that does not bend. Jim will help me by holding the bag and I do hope that the job I do turns out and that I can live with what happens.

Janome does a great job in producing these workbooks and machine owners should take advantage of all their expertise and learn so much more about their machines. Put it at the top of your wish list! . Reasonably priced for so much reference and learning material. Judi
