Nothing like a good mystery and I have one. I bought the Horizon MC12000 and it ran really well with some thread problems once in awhile. But I thought it was just me not having something set right, so I have been muddling through all these years, Today I was looking through my instruction book and came to page 101 where I read if you don’t use Janome thread to use the special embroidery holder (yellow dot in center) to replace the standard bobbin holder and I had received one bobbin holder the regular one. I looked at my list that came with the machine and there is not one listed. Shouldn’t the special one have come with the machine?

I have checked the manual and yes, the yellow dot bobbin case for embroidery does comes with the Mc12000. I cannot explain why you do not have this yellow dot bobbin case and, after all this time, I suspect there is not much that can be done. I always tell people to do a full inventory of everything that is packed in their machine box ( the list is in the first few pages of the manual) – especially if they are buying a store floor model or “open box” machine. It is extremely rare for an item to be missing from a brand new sealed box. It is 9 times out of 10 found by the customer when they look again. Sometimes the item has rolled onto the floor or under a table.
The bobbin case was packed in a sort of obscure place with a roll of stabilizers and felt tucked under and behind Cardboard packaging in the embroidery unit box. That much I do remember as we had to tell quite a few people where to look. Maybe you missed it? Could it have got thrown out with your boxes if you did not keep them? I’m just guessing. Probably no way to know after this length of time. Either way, these Bobbin cases are available from your dealer.
I use my yellow dot bobbin case for all my embroidery except when I am doing quilting in the hoop when I do not want the tighter bobbin tension. Yes, strictly speaking, you do not need to use the yellow dot bobbin case for pre wound JANOME bobbins as we know they are tightly wound. But all self wound bobbins whether Wound by you with Janome thread or other thread or another brand of pre-wound, we recommend the yellow dot bobbin case.

Seems a mystery might have been cleared up.

I bought my machine from a demonstration show and that may explain why it was not included. It was a big show and a lot of people were loading the demos up and you are right I should have checked my list to make sure I had everything. Lesson learned the hard way. In my defense I did take a lot of classes from the shop that sold it to me and had the instructor and shop owner try to figure out why my thread gave me trouble and neither one of them mentioned the yellow doted bobbin holder. To say I was unhappy with them is putting it mildly – it is why I am talking to you instead of them. Is it possible to buy a yellow dotted bobbin holder?
        Thanks for your help.

As a matter of interest – which dealer? And yes you can buy a yellow dot bobbin case: Part# 202134006. Possibly a dealer may have this in store but I checked as SO much is out of stock due to the Pandemic (groan…. as everyone is complaining) but good news is that we do have these in stock so if the dealer does not have it in the store, they can order from us and have it shipped right away. I would advise you to do it quickly as it seems not much is staying in stock for very long these days!
