Holiday project idea…….gifts? holiday decor? AND invitation to another Janome Canada OPEN HOUSE

At this time of the year when we seem to be so busy and life seems just a little “crazy”, it is good to have a quick, easy project to fall back on….right?

We have  a video here for you showing a range of different mug rugs from embroidered ones done completely -in-the-hoop to simple ones embellished with an applique, decorative stitches or quilting.

This mug rug is embroidered in-the-hoop. No sewing required as everything is done in the hoop. This design is one of the designs on Kimberbell CD of designs – a collection of mug rug designs

Mug rugs can also be a great scrapbusting project – in fact it is one of the projects we show in our current ONLINE class called Scrapbusting project ideas with Janome (ask your Janome Canada dealer if they are going to host this class? We are offering this class TODAY and again later this month) So not only is the project quick and easy, but it uses up scraps and does not break the bank!

This Saturday 21st November, we are offering Holiday project #3 right here on Janome Life blog and Janome Life You Tube channel –  which just happens to be making a mug rug ( or coaster if you prefer this name) using ruler quilting and decorative stitching. Don’t miss it! Monique will show it all on a video which will be available on our Janome Life You Tube channel early on Saturday 21st as well as here on Janome Life blog which will contain the link to the video.  So a video today and another coming on Saturday!

IN ADDITION: we are inviting you to attend another Janome Canada Education Open House at 4.30pm Eastern this Saturday 21st November. We have an online class just before this hence not being able to have the Open House earlier. But we won’t keep you long – just approx. 30-60 mins to give you another opportunity to ask us questions, etc.  This Open House will be specifically to answer questions about Artistic Digitizer software as well as the Saturday Sewing holiday projects. PLEASE send us a comment below with your specific Artistic Digitizer questions. We are not offering a hands-on class on the software during this Open house but we are happy to answer quick questions. This Open House is free. Just log on, ask your questions, show us what you have been sewing and spend some time with us!

We have already offered Artistic Digitizer part 1, 2 and 3 several times since the beginning of October and we are not planning to offer these online software classes again until January (15th, 22nd and 29th January – you will need to register with your Janome Canada dealer or through classes@janome-canada.com)

These are scrapbusting mug rugs. I had more 5 inch squares than I needed for my table runner other projects so I decided to turn the “leftovers” into mug rugs. I just sewed 4 together, sandwiched it with backing and did some simple quilting on each one. Finally I edged them with yarn couching.

What about pairing a mug rug with a mug and a hot chocolate sachet or 2 or some coffee pods? Or wrap it up with a packet of yummy cookies? Whatever you decide, this gift is sure to be gratefully received as it was made with thought and care and YOUR creativity.
