NOW is the time to dust off your Artistic Edge Digital cutter and start preparing for the holiday season –   Put your cutter to very good use!  If you don’t have a digital cutter, perhaps you might like to see below what you could do if you had one?! We do have  a limited inventory of Artistic Edge 12 digital cutters in stock at the time of writing this post. But hurry as they are gone for good once they are all sold.

Now is the time for Christmas stars  and snowflakes to mention just a few things you can be cutting on your digital cutter.  These stars below were cut and then appliqued in-the-hoop of our Janome embroidery machine – any of our embroidery machines will do this embroidery. Just adjust the size for your specific hoop and stitch away!

The Simple Cut software which comes included with the Artistic Edge digital cutter digitizes a placement stitch (running stitch line) which stitches first so that you know where to place the cut star (white in our pic above) on the hooped fabric. The fabric for the star was prepared with Terial magic as we need it to be really firm to give a good crisp cut. Fusible web may also be ironed onto the back of the fabric. Spray glue may be used as an alternative to hold the star in position until the tack down & applique stitches are  stitched around the star.

All that remains is to unhoop the embroidered star and sew it up into whatever project you desire: Use your applique-in-the-hoop for a multitude of different holiday purposes: pillows, table cloths, table napkins, greeting cards, placemats, mug rugs, home decorating for the holidays like bunting or mantle hangings……lots of options.  Here is a finished project….. just one idea you could create with your star or snowflake or ??

The Snowflake was cut out with the Artistic Edge digital cutter and then appliqued-in-the-hoop with stitches digitized in the Simple Cut software which comes included with the Artistic Digital cutter. The left hand side of the mug rug was embroidered with a quilting design (built into some of our embroidery machines). The edge of the mug rug was couched with yarn instead of using a quilt binding.

Christmas home décor made effortlessly with the Artistic Edge 15 Digital cutter and card stock. The cutting file was a free download off the web.

Make your own special Christmas gift tags with scraps of card stock you have on hand. The cutting file was another free download. Cut multiple tags in one pass on your cutter in a flash and thread silver cords into the little hole the Artistic Edge cutter also cut for this purpose. I don’t think I am ever buying another gift tag…..no need to!

Celine from Montreal cut these snowflakes on the Artistic Edge Digital cutter. The cutting mats are 12 or 15 inch square so we can cut lovely BIG shapes…..this snowflake is made up of 2 separate cuts: one blue and 1 white which were then glued together for a very pleasing two tone look. And she used inexpensive sheets of $$ store card stock for this holiday decor project.
