Artistic Edge Digital Cutter – create a pretty winter scene

Our Artistic Edge digital cutter has worked hard recently. On this winter scene, you will recognize several techniques described in previous posts:

  1. The 15″ X 30″ grey / blue fabric for valleys and chalets, was cut out using the optional long 15 x 30 inch cutting mat. This fabric was then machine sewed with an appliqué stitch.
  2. The snowflakes were cut out with the cutter, and the applique stitches were digitized in the applique function in Simple Cut software. These were them embroidered in place at the embroidery machine. On a few, rhinestones were added.
  3. The “Crystals” technique was selected to cut out the template for the star rhinestones as well as the decoration on the top of the large tree.
  4. The size of the trees has been changed in the software, and I took the circles from the holes in the trees to scatter them around.
I love to do “paintings” like this because I can always add embroidery designs, decorative stitches, and other techniques available in the software and on my Janome machine.

Several optional accessories are available from Janome; replacement cutting mats, the long cutting mat, the starter sets, new cutting blades and more. Click on this link to discover them:

The cutting blades are very good. I am still using the original ones; I have had my ‘Edge’ cutter since 2015. Notice the details of the cutout in the following photo:
