A lot of people are afraid of using Metallic Thread or have had a bad experience using it.

Madeira’s metallic thread is top quality. Here is a link to further information about sewing with metallic threads – hints and tips for success.

We recommend a top stitch (with a larger eye) or a Janome purple tip needle. The eye of a top stitch needle is a little bit larger and the needle itself has a tiny little flange above the eye to reduce friction as the thread passes through the fabric.

Purple tips have a special cobra shaped head above the eye which moves the fibres of the fabric a little apart so that the stitches can form correctly and therefore prevent skipped stitches. And they’re available in a heavier #14 size. Recommended for high density designs and thick fabrics. Purple Tip Needles are designed to prevent skipped stitches with heavy fabrics, including knits like lycra and swimsuit/dancewear fabrics. They are also very helpful if quilting batiks which are tightly woven or when embroidering densely digitized designs.

      Hi,
Unfortunately we are not really able to help you as we are not familiar with that model. We are in Canada. Please could you visit the website of the country/ company which distributes those Janome machines in Nigeria or where you purchased it for assistance.

So glad to have a better explanation of the purple tip needles. I usually use red tip for metallic, but was just able to order purple ones from a dealer. Now I will use them properly. Thanks.
