Be the Boss of the Grill!!

Hi! Summer is here, did you notice yet? I’m so excited for sunny days and no snow lol. I’m super excited to show you a BBQ apron I made for an Artistic Digitizer class, #4. Classes #4-#6 are a little bit different from our beginner series. These classes are project based, so that you can make exactly the same as what my sample is.

Class #4 focuses on digitizing this cute project, a summer BBQ apron. I used a pattern from Jalie Patterns, which is a fab Canadian pattern company.

Have you ever used a PDF pattern? They are quickly becoming the go-to for fresh and unique tools for garment and home decor. I find they are so useful, especially the ones that have things like layers, projector files, copy shop files and more.

The patterns go together like a puzzle, and every pattern designer is a little bit different from one another. But once you understand the basic concept, you’ll be a pro in no time at all.

So grab your paper scissors, tape/glue stick, dull rotary blade, ruler and mat and try out your first one! Lots of companies have free patterns too.

I keep an extra rotary handle to hold a dull blade, perfect for paper!

I like the ones that have layers. When you open your pattern in Adobe Reader, look for this icon:

You can easily choose what size you want to print! And then print only the pages you need. Once I printed my pattern, I glued the pages together following the patterns directions. I even made a video for you 😉 . You can find it here.

I also used a really inexpensive drop cloth (from the Hardware store) as my fabric. It’s 100% cotton, and one package gives you enough fabric to make 3-4 different aprons.

I really hope you join us for more Artistic Digitizer classes, we can’t wait to see you discover more Artistic Digitizer creativity!

    Hi Liz
I changed e-mail providers and lost the video recordings from the artistic edge part 1 and 2 class. Are you able to re-send them to me?
