THANK YOU for Sharing the LOVE of Sewing!

I’ve often said that quilters/ sewists/ crafters are generous by nature, and indeed, many of us get started as a means to make a special gift for someone special in our lives, or to donate to a special cause we’d like to support.

A HUGE, extra-special THANK YOU goes out to everyone who sew generously donated to help share the love of sewing with those in need!

A few months back we shared the exciting news that Janome Canada had partnered with a fabulous Canadian organization, I Love First Peoples, who’s mandate is to empower and enrich the lives of children in remote Indigenous communities across the country.

One of the programs very near and dear to our hearts is the Sew and Sew Program; sharing and teaching the love of sewing with a new generation of budding young sewists and quilters. Janome Canada is donating a number of brand new, beautiful Janome 2030 QDC machines, and we put out a call asking for donations of much-needed sewing supplies to go along with those machines.

If you’re a regular follower of Janome Life, you’ve seen the many posts related to this initiative, but for a review, click on this link HERE. and be sure to check out our Janome Canada website for more information, as well.

3 of our Janome Dealers acted as drop-off locations:

Alliston Sewing Machine Service in Alliston, ON, for more information click HERE.

The Sewing Cafe in Georgetown, ON, for more information click HERE.

Triangle Sewing Centre in Guelph, ON, for more information click HERE.

I’ve been absolutely blown away with the amount of donations collected! I had to make several trips to each store and thank goodness I upgraded to a bigger car as it was often stuffed to the hilt! lol!

Donations were also dropped off in person at the Janome Sewing and Learning Centre in Oakville, ON and mailed in from across Canada. I especially loved the hand-written notes and cards so thoughtfully included with some of the donations. I truly wasn’t expecting those! Thank you!

Now that the donation drive has officially come to an end (May 31st) I’ll begin to go through all the bags and boxes to separate all the notions, fabric, thread, etc, though some have already given me a head start!

Click on the link HERE to see a little video I made of the donations collected a few weeks ago but there’s already been an additional 2 car loads of donations added since! It’s going to be great fun going through everything, especially knowing how everything sent will be sew appreciated and put to good use! I can’t wait to see what the kids make with their new Janome 2030 QDC machines and all these fabulous goodies!

Look for updates of the sorting process and for updates of the Sew and Sew Program in the coming weeks!

On behalf of Janome Canada, THANK YOU SEW MUCH for your generous donations and for sharing the LOVE!

Happy Sewing!
