Lately, I have been making fabric books for the all the baby’s in my life. In a previous post here on Janome Life, I shared that our family will soon be welcoming 4 new babies. Yes, four! Fortunately, these fabric books are so fun and quick to make. I wanted to quilt them, so I used different features on my Janome Quilt Maker Pro 18. and the Pro Stitcher Premium software.

There are so many quilting designs built-in to the Pro Stitcher Premium software but, if you can’t find a design that meets yours needs, you can always import a design into the program, as well.
One of the blocks I found in my “Fabric Library” was already pre-cut and not quite square, so I had no extra fabric to attach it to the long arm. I had two choices; sew extra fabric leaders around the blocks to mount it onto the frame, or use the Multi-Point feature of the Pro Stitcher Premium software to size the quilting area just where I wanted it.

I chose the multi-point function because it was the easiest option. I went to each corner of the block and created the exact area I wanted to quilt.

I picked a pattern that I liked; an overall stipple, which the program automatically sized perfectly to the area I had created. For more about creating an area with the Pro Stitcher Premium software, review some previous posts on Janome Life.
When I quilted these, I didn’t put a backing on as I wanted to sew the blocks together without having to bind the edges. It worked great stitching over just the batting and the panels.

The Janome Quilt Maker Pro 18 long arm quilting machine is not just for king size quilts. You can do small projects on them too, like quilt baby quilts, placemats and fabric books. I love playing with my long arm! Check with your Janome Canada dealer for more information about Janome’s line of longarm quilting machines, so you too, can share in the love!
