Janome Gift Giving Ideas

Time seems to move faster and faster these days, especially as we head toward the Holidays. When looking for last-minute gift or Holiday decorating ideas, turn to your stash, or “Fabric Library” as I call it, our Janome Canada Dealers, and our Janome Life blog, to find many fast and fun projects to fit the bill!

The Re-Usable Christmas Crackers below don’t use much fabric; any solid, or any fabric with a very subtle, soft print will work. This is a great little project to test-out and show off some of those decorative stitches built-in to so many of our Janome sewing machines. This is also a good project to use up scraps of stabilizer, or to test out different stabilizers from the Madeira Stabilizer Starter Pack. Janome Canada is a distributor of Madeira products, so check with your Janome Dealer. If they don’t have in stock, they can order for you.

You can find the instructions for the fun Re-Usable Christmas Crackers by clicking the link HERE.

Christmas Crackers embellished with decorative stitches, including those custom-made with Janome’s Stitch Composer Software.

A number of Janome machines come included with the Stitch Composer software; all versions of the Janome MC15000, Continental M7, Skyline S9, Skyline S7, MC 9450, MC 9400. There are some Stitch Composer tutorials on the Skyline S9 landing page and MC 15000 Quilt Maker landing page on Janome.CA for more information.

Another fun, fast project is the Christmas Mug Rug, though you could use fabrics with any theme to make this useful gift or décor item for every season and occasion. This is another great use of scraps left over from another project, and a great time to try different methods of quilting. Make a set of 4 Christmas Mug Rugs, using a different quilting technique on each.

You can find the instructions for the Christmas Mug Rug by clicking the link HERE.

Try Ruler Quilting on one, using one of the acrylic rulers from the Janome Sew Comfortable line.

To quilt another mug rug, try using one of the templates, like the very fun Spin-E-Fex, which is available in a few sizes, from the Janome Sew Comfortable line.

Try Crosshatch Quilting with an Even Feed Foot, or AcuFeed Flex Foot and the Quilting Guide Bar on another.

Try your hand at Free Motion Quilting on another mug rug. It’s easier and less intimidating to learn on a smaller piece of fabric, so this is good project to practice and develop your skills.

If you have a Janome embroidery machine, like the MC 12000, all versions of the MC 15000, MC550E, MC 500E, MC450E you might try AcuFil Quilting; quilting in the hoop as another way to finish your quilting very quickly and easily. Janome has so many options available for you!

Personalize gifts even more by creating your own gift tags. Dig into your scrap bag as these cute little tags don’t use much fabric, and you can customize them no matter which Janome machine you have. Use decorative stitches; applique; the fonts built-in to your machines; embroidery; some of the optional specialty presser feet, like the Janome Free Motion Couching Foot Set or Pin Tucking Foot – there’s no end to the fun and creativity.
