Saturday Sewing Projects from Sew4Home!

Our friends at Sew4Home have done it again! They’ve selected 3 classic S4H projects which will be perfect to try on a variety of entry level, mid-range, and top-of-the-line Janome machines. Of course, you’re welcome to use your favorite model, but it’s also fun to explore how certain techniques, accents, and embellishments become easier as you take advantage of advanced machine features and specialty presser feet.

Patchwork Table Runner with All Around Ruffle + Janome 234

Just in time for holiday gatherings, this beginner-friendly table runner lets you pull some pretties from your scrap stash, fussy cut the strips, then stitch them together for a striking finish with a subtle ruffled edge. We recommend the Janome 234, a powerful entry level model that features an extra high presser foot lift so there’s no problem with the extra layer of batting. Use the easily adjustable stitch length to set a basting stitch that can create the soft gathered ruffle. A great gift for a new sewer!

Janome 3160PG Anniversary Edition

Foldaway Fabric Shopping Bags & Carrying Case + Janome 3160PG

Two generous fabric totes are designed to fold away into their own compact carrying case. Toss the case in your purse or keep in the car’s glove box so you’re always ready to shop. S4H has provided a full pattern download for the set. A perfect machine for this project is the Janome 3160PG Anniversary Edition. With its Superior Feed System, you can stitch with ease and confidence even within tricky angles and across narrow seams. We also love the extension table that comes standard; it’s a big help to keep larger panels flat and smooth while sewing.

This great-for-guys carryall can be worn as a backpack, crossbody, or carried by hand. Study navy canvas is combined with bright orange sport nylon plus a faux leather base, webbing, and mesh. When a project has such a variety of substrates, you need a machine that can move through thick and thin without skipping a stitch, like the Janome MC8200QCP Special Edition. An intuitive touch panel makes moving through all its features a snap, including 170 built-in stitches and 10 one-step buttonholes. And the advanced plate markings are super helpful during all types of construction.
