“My eyes are dim. I can not see. I have not brought my specks with me.” This song rings true for a lot of us these days.
I don’t know about you, but I’m finding that threading a needle is getting a little harder these days. While I own bifocals, I still have some issues seeing the fine details clearly. I hate to admit it, because it means I am getting older and my eyes are getting weaker. And, of course, those of us who wear glasses also have to remember where we put them, lol!
Janome has come to the rescue to help people like me, and you, who want to keep sewing and see clearly while we’re doing it.
Janome has created the AcuView Optic Magnifiers, which, are not only fantastic, they’re super easy to install, and are compatible with a number of 9mm Janome machines, like the Janome MC6700P, Janome MC6650 and Janome MC Skyline S6. The Part Number for the complete set of 20x, 40x, 60x magnification is #202130002.

Also available is the Janome Acuview Optic Magnifier holder with 20x lens, Part Number #202400006. And, for even more good news, they’re IN STOCK in our Janome Canada warehouse!

The silver post of the holder just clicks into the hole up in the cover beside the needle shaft, usually just behind the side thread cutter. Use a mirror, or gently tip your machine back to find the housing where the AcuView Optic Magnifier holder slips into. The magnifier swivels to the side if you don’t want use it all the time, so it can stay attached to the machine.

Some machines, like the top-of-the-line Janome MC15000 Quilt Maker and the Janome 5300QDC already come with the complete set.

As indicated on the blister pack below, the Janome Continental M7 has it’s own special AcuView Optic Magnifier Set, which has a longer bar on the holder, which attaches into the machine. This longer bar is necessary to go around the housing of the machine, so be sure your blister pack says “For Continental M7 Professional“. Part Number #202432007. All other machines will use the regular (shorter) AcuView Optic Magnifier holder.

There are 3 different lenses at 20x, 40x and 60x magnification, which clip into the AcuView Optic Magnifier holder. Use the magnifiers even when threading a hand-sewing needle. The holder is held into the machine, but can swing around to the side, giving you room to place your hands underneath. The position of the lens can also be adjusted just where you need it.

Contact your local Janome Dealer to order the AcuView Optic Magnifier 20x/40x/60x Set Part# 20213002 or the AcuView Optic Magnifier Holder with 20x lens Part #202400006. These are an awesome gift for the sewist who has everything!

An easy way to check if the AcuView Optic Magnifiers will attach to a machine is place a mirror on the bed of the machine to the left of the presser foot, or to gently tip the machine back to see if there’s a small hole up inside the plastic cover. If it’s there, it’s usually around where the side thread cutter attaches. The small hole/fitting is where the pin of the magnifier holder will attach if it’s compatible with the machine.

Is there a magnifying set for Janome MC 11000 which is a 7mm model???

HI Brenda! The MC 11000 predates the AcuView Optic Magnifiers, so no, they aren’t compatible to fit that machine. Many times I end up just holding the magnifier in my hand to read small text or to see the numbers on the needles, so they’re still useful to have around without attaching them to the machine. How do I know if these will fit my machine model?

Hi Kathleen! Use a mirror, or gently tip your machine back to see if there’s a small round hole up inside the plastic cover of the machine. It’s usually around the side thread cutter and to the side of the needle threader, if it’s there. The magnifiers are useful just to hold in place, as well. I use them to read any small print and to see the numbers on the needles, so they’re useful even if they don’t fit into the sewing machine. Happy Sewing!
