Directly on your computer screen with the software included with your Janome embroidery machine, it is possible to make a design to fill and even exceed the largest hoop of the model of your machine. You can create and edit to manipulate the design just as you like it.
For this exercise, I used the following three software programs which come included with various Janome embroidery machines.

Using a simple pattern built into your machine, the goal is to fill the hoop with this same design using the editing functions of the software program: resize; duplicate; horizontal and vertical mirror image; create mirror images in the four corners; organize the embroidery order… oh lala what a big exercise!!!
With the HorizonLink Suite software included with all versions of the Janome MC15000 and my choice of pattern, here is my composition in the GR hoop (9.1″x11.8″)
With the Embroidery Editor software of the Janome MC550E and my choice of pattern, here is my composition in the RE36b hoop. (11.9″x14.2″)

With the AcuTools software of the Janome Skyline S9 and my choice of pattern, here is my composition in the RE20a hoop. (6.7″x7.9″)
The ‘sewing order’ editing function becomes very important here because there are several manipulations of the pattern. It is imperative to place the order of the embroidery of each patterns in the list of drawings on the right of your screen, which is Design List. The goal is to avoid leaving long thread jumps embroidering on either side of the hoop.
When your composition is finished, you need to print the template. For my editing in HorizonLink Suite, the template is printed on four pages that I pasted along the dotted lines.
When the assembly of the design is completed and template printed, you need to save and embroider the design with your machine model selected. My plan is to juxtapose several of the same embroidered pattern to make a carrying bag.
In the next article, I will show you the use of the positioner and template in order to obtain perfect positioning placement.
