It’s hard to believe, but after months of preparation, Quilt Canada 2022 – the first LIVE show since 2019 is history.
What a FUN time we had! The theme of the show was “Reconnected”, and you could totally feel the energy and excitement throughout the venue. Though all were unsure of exactly what to expect, I think everyone felt at ease once they arrived. Everyone was respectful that some people felt more comfortable wearing a mask and tried to maintain a safe distance, while others wanted to get up close and personal for a long overdue hug with friends they haven’t seen in years. Everyone had the choice to do what was best for them and it soon wasn’t an issue.
The focus was definitely on the amazing display of quilts and all the goodies for sale in the vendor’s hall. Many of the big brands, like Janome and Elna were there, as well as dozens of small business from across the province and across the country, including our friends from EddyCrest Furniture, all the way from Woodstock, Ontario!
Also at the show was the fabulous Josee and Ian from I Love First Peoples. I finally got to meet them in person after over a year’s worth of e-mails and online meetings organizing Janome’s partnership and donation drive contributions to the ILFP’s Sew and Sew Program.

It was sew fun to walk the show floor – finally! – to see all the machines, fabrics and notions on offer, as well as to see beautiful quilts and projects on display for inspiration. And of course, it was fabulously fun to see who was there; patrons as well as other vendors in the booth.
Though we had many Janome friends and fans tell us they came to the show to see us; it was such a joy for me to meet so many people who said they enjoy watching my LIVE presentations and videos, as well as Celine’s Facebook Live presentations; we know the main reason why people attend the show is to see the QUILTS!
I had to rush through the quilts on display, so I recorded a little video to bring you along for the ride. I apologize for having to move so quickly and for spinning the camera around so much. There just wasn’t enough time for it all! For more information, visit the CQA’s website and Facebook page.
As usual, our Canadian quilters did our country proud! The talent, the creativity, the attention to detail and the hours and hours and hours they devoted to share the love of quilting was truly jaw-dropping and inspiring.
I’m sure you’ll all recognize this incredibly talented, and very patient lady. Adding to her impressive collection of ribbons, including the Janome sponsored “Best in Show” award, is Colette Dumont proudly standing next to her latest masterpiece, “Set Fire to the Sky”

It’s never too early to start planning for another event, so mark your calendars – June 8,9,10th 2023 for Quilt Canada 2023 in Halifax, NS!
Happy Quilting!
