In a previous post, I gave you a hint of what we were creating for our Janome and Elna booths at Quilt Canada, which was held in June in Vancouver. This is the final project from our efforts!

These adorable dress forms are a decoration you could use as a pin cushion in your sewing room, or even for jewelry in your dressing room. They are about 18 inches high and 8 inches wide. If you don’t increase the PDF pattern size from 60% to 100%, you can make a smaller version, which some educators did. They are SEW adorable and a perfect blank canvas to decorate with some of the decorative stitches from your machine.
We used Maderia thread on this beautiful Kimberly Einmo “Solid-ish” fabric from Timeless Treasures. Many of you know Kimberly as Janome America’s National Spokesperson.
Celine made and embellished hers using the decorative stitches of the new Janome Continental M17. The stitches pop even more in metallic or multi-colour thread!

Any machine will do! This is a good project to try those stitches you may not have used before, like the Cross Stitch, or Heirloom stitches, which are built-in to so many Janome machines.

Recommended to use with decorative stitches is the Satin Stitch F or Open Toe Satin Stitch F2 foot, which come with many machines. For parallel rows of decorative stitching, also available from your Janome Dealer is the Janome Border Guide foot, which really helps improve your accuracy. This versatile foot is available for top-loading 5mm, 7mm and 9mm machines. Check with your Janome Dealer and our handy bilingual Janome Accessory Guide for details.

This project was created by our colleagues at Janome America, but the instructions and pattern download are available on Janome.CA under the Inspire tab!
We would love to see how YOU embellish and decorate your decorative dress form, so be sure to tag us #janomecanada @janomecanada, #sharethejanomelove, #janomehq, @janomehq in your social media posts!

Good morning I read your post on the Dress form and I would like to know where I can find the PDF pattern. I’m interested in trying the various decoratives stitches on my Janome 9450. Thank you Jocelyne Sent from my Ipad
