Janome Quilt Along 2022 – Part 8

Welcome back to the quilt along. If you’re just joining in now, you can find the previous posts here:

Janome Quilt Along! – Introduction including supply list

Part 1 – Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5Part 6 Part 7

We’re now ready to quilt our Star Blocks. We are going to quilt them the same for all methods: Ruler Work, Free Motion, and Walking Foot/Even Feed/AcuFeed/ AcuFeed Flex quilting. The first step will be to stitch-in-the-ditch and in the second step, we are going to quilt a pattern to enhance the star block.

Let’s take a look at the accessories that were used to create this design. For the Free Motion quiliting, I choose to use the Janome Open Toe Darning Foot/ Free Motion Foot because I can easily see where I am stitching. Likewise, I use my Janome AcuFeed Flex Open Toe Foot for my Janome AcuFeed Flex Dual/Twin foot holder when doing the “Walking Foot” quilting.

For the Ruler Work, the Janome Sew Comfortable Ditch Ruler (pictured centre below) worked perfectly for both stitch-in-the-ditch and for quilting the design. Of course, I remembered to use my Janome Ruler Work Foot (QR) which comes with my machine, but Janome has a 1/4″ Ruler Work Foot for almost every Janome sewing machine out there! Contact a Janome Dealer for details.

Have fun quilting these blocks and we’ll see you back next time where we will attach the blocks using a quilt-as-you-go method.

Don’t forget to post your progress on social media.

Have checked this out and gone to her youtube about setting up the machine for walking foot quilting. Looks really good and uses our machine. I think I’m going to start it soon. Would you like to give it a try.? No time line—we can start and stop anytime or only do a portion of it. XOXME
