Amazing Threads for the Long Arm

What kind of thread can you use on your Long Arm Janome Quilt Maker Pro?  Here are just a few I have put through the test and they are all great and have their own look.  Why not use the embroidery threads on a long arm?

I quilted the same pebble pattern using a 14 stitch per inch length for each thread for a fair comparison.

First up is the Madeira Aero Quilt thread available in large cones.    This 100% polyester thread features a special finish that gives it the look of cotton with the strength and durability of polyester. It is a 40wt thread and cone is 3,000 yard spool of 2-ply thread can be used on both standard sewing machines as well as longarm quilting machines. It has a matte look to it and is perfect for those traditional quilts.

Next I used the Hilos Iris.  It is a Trilobal Polyester thread. It is mainly used in embroidery machines , having a very uniform and controlled smoothness, which results in the formation of a very even embroidery. Due to its strength and low stretching quality, thread breaks are notably reduced thus increasing productivity for embroiderers.  But hey, it works great on the long arm too.

The Madeira Polyneoneon is super nice.  The sample design above features the Poly Neon 40wt.  The 100% Polyester  Polyneon is constructed of a specially developed raw material which eliminates looping, puckering and virtually all thread breaks. Suitable for almost any embroidery applications, Polyneon’s unique formula makes this thread extremely durable and smooth running. Vibrant colors are glossy, shiny, as well as resistant to chlorine bleach, making Polyneon the ideal thread for embroidering on uniforms, safety garments and commercial linens.  Polyneon is available in a 40wt, a 60wt and 75wt.  I love using an embroidery thread on the longarm especially for the modern quilts.

The last example is using the Janome 100% polyester 40 wt brand.  Janome Polyester Embroidery Thread is excellent for use with all Janome embroidery machines. Each colour spool contains 275 Yards No. 40 High Quality Polyester Thread made in Japan.

In conclusion which is my favourite….Hmmm? I love them all – they all have a different look so I guess I will see which project I am working on next.
