Quilt labels are super easy to make with your embroidery machine! You can add multiple rows of text to a single embroidery design with all Janome embroidery machines! Here, we used the MC9900 to make a quilt label…
To make the quilt label, we oriented our tex
t vertically in order to maximize our hoop space.
We used 3 different pre-programmed font styles, in combinations of small and medium sized text.
We also added built-in embroidery designs and stitched a border onto our quilt label using a decorative stitch from one of the 200 built-in stitches on the MC9900.
The date was added to the quilt label using the monogramming stitches on the MC9900 in regular sewing mode.

Please note: The instructions are for the MC9900, MC12000, and MC15000, however can be applied to all Janome embroidery machines.

I have the Memory Craft 200 and I cannot make these labels with my machine. The statement that says all Janome machines will do this is not accurate.

Actually the MC200E DOES do lettering. I refer you to page 29 onwards in your Instruction manual. The MC200E may not have all the advanced features found on the Mc9900 an MC12000 & MC15000 models, but it is an entry level embroidery machine so that is to be expected. However, you can most certainly do embroidered lettering. Enjoy!

I called The dealer and I was told that my machine won’t make a quilt label with multiple lines. Is that not accurate?

I don’t have a MC200E here to check it out so I might be mistaken. But you can definitely embroider lettering. Also look at page 35 where it explains how to combine lettering and a design. Perhaps you can combine 2 lines of lettering? Give it a try. If it will not allow more than 1 line at a time then hoop up the fabric, move the lettering to the top of the hoop, stitch it out & then clear. Start again with the next line but move it down a bit in the Edit hoop and stitch that. You are not unhooping fabric between these so it should not be a big fuss. As I say, I can’t check this out for you but it is worth you experimenting to see if it gives you the results you want.
But if that does not work, you might want to consider our new Janome Mc500E which allows multiple lines and a whole lot more editing and features as well as FOUR hoops – one almost as large as our top of the line MC15000. Worth having a look at this machine at your dealer if you find the Mc200E a bit limiting? You might be rather surprised at the low price of this new machine with loads of features.

I can probably rustle up something like this at some point in the future (probably not much time until the summer to do this…sorry). But in the meanwhile, all you need do is read the section of your instruction manual where it explains about combining alphabets. Then program in your quilt label line by line. Draw out the lines with a washable fabric marker on the fabric for the label and then stitch out each line using the marking as a guide. Remember to use a stabilizer under the fabric to prevent puckering. And you can snip the stitches between words. Nowhere near as easy or flexible as doing this in the embroidery hoop, but it does work. Give it a go!

Sorry, I did not make myself clear, I meant did you make a tutorial about using the monogram feature to make a Quilt label. I don’t have an embroidery machine and am struggling to understand how to do this on my 8900 SE. Thank you for replying Lee

Hi Lee,
Your MC8900SE is not an embroidery machine so you cannot make quilt labels like this as this is embroidered in the hoop of an embroidery machine. You do have an alphabet program on your Janome machine. Please see your local janome dealer for a lesson on how to use it or consult your manual which is quite good in explaining how to program and stitch alphabets.
