How can we help you?

We have offered a very popular series called “Glad you asked that” on a monthly basis on janomelife for quite some time. This arose out of the fact that our team of educators often gets asked the same types of questions many times. So we picked topics we knew you were asking about. And of course, as you know, we publish at least 3 janomelife posts per week on a wide range of Janome sewing, embroidery and serging projects.  And you can go back in the archives or search for a myriad of past posts with info you might be looking for.

But perhaps there are some questions which remain unanswered?  I am specifically thinking about embroidery and software as this is our embroidery week of the month. Are you confused when it comes to how to work your software? Are you frustrated because you can’t seem to get the design you want from your computer to your embroidery hoop? Have you no clue how to use our fabulous Janome App’s?

Now is your opportunity to let us know what software and embroidery topics or specific things you would like more information about.  We know that many of our customers are bumbling around in a fog of non-understanding when it comes to embroidery, software, Apps and more.  And I mean that in the kindest way ….NO judgement. Bottom line is we’d like to help.  What can we do to help you understand your Janome embroidery machine features, our embroidery software and our APP’s better so that you can get so much more from the wonderful Janome equipment you own?

The comment box below is extremely limited as sometimes written words are just not enough  – face to face learning may be needed  (Like a demo at your dealer’s store ?) or watch a video or other online presentation to fully understand the concepts I am referring to. A quick 2 or 3 line reply to a blog comment does not really cut it, right?

So here is the deal: you tell us what you are confused about or know you could learn much more about …………… and we will try our best to cover these topics on janomelife in the coming months. If need be, we will tape some video’s; or possibly even offer an online webinar if enough of you indicate you want a specific topic. How does that sound?

Looking forward to hearing your topics!

      Hi
We have noted this. In the meanwhile, please click on the tiny little blue question mark in top right corner of home screen of installed Stitch Composer (on your PC) and this opens up the comprehensive workbook which you can use to teach yourself the program. It is very detailed.

Training Video for the Convertible Free Motion Quilting Foot Set.

If possible please create a training video using all the interchangeable feet for the 9mm Convertible Free Motion Quilting Foot Set (Part #20214600) when using it on a MC 15000 and the 9450 QCP, include using the ruler foot (Part # 767434003) option. This presser foot is an incredible option when doing FMQ compared to using the PD-H foot/QC, QO, QV feet. Not all dealers understand or even know of this foot option. Thanks

      Hi Roy,

This has already been done quite some time back and shared here on Janomelife in January this year. Please go in the archives for January 2019 (right hand side of Janomelife home screen) and you will find it. I believe it was published on 8 January this year.
Our dealers do have resources to consult as well as being able to call us to ask questions if they are unsure.

I have a Janome MC12000. I want to be able to print templates with die lines from the embroidery files I have. Is there a work around or solution for Mac users? Any software that you would recommend over others (especially free ones)? Thanks for your help.

      Hi Judy

Our Artistic Simple cut software (with is sold with our Edge cutter) and our Artistic Digitizer software can print cutting files, templates etc using the embroidery file. Eg turn an embroidery file into an Applique etc. Artistic Digitize is Mac compatible. The free software which comes with the Mc12000 will print template but works with Windows.

I Liz, I have a skyline S9 and my embroidery unit start making a squeak noise when moving from left to right (like when doing satin stitch) and it is getting louder and louder the longer i embroider, like when i embroider for couple hours or so, it looks like it is coming between the top and bottom part (where it is splitting) of the embroidery unit. So is the embroidery unit need some oiling or cleaning because when I was bringing my machine to the dealer for cleaning he was telling me not to bring the embroidery unit because it does not need to be cleaned

Hi, what is the safe way of transporting our janome sewing machine to classes/dealer as I have heard different answers with regards to presser foot should be down and needle up and others said both presser foot and needle should be down position on a piece of clothing when transporting our sewing machine. So what is recommendation for transporting a skyline S9 and what is the reason

      Hi Marie,

The relatively short distance to your dealer’s store is not a big deal. You can have the presser foot up or down. If you kept the little styrofoam block from when your machine was opened for the first time, you could wedge that under the needle bar if you pack your machine back into the box for long journeys or for shipping, but otherwise, that is not necessary.

I have a Janome HD9 which uses HLx5 needles I want to sew Real Leather and need a leather point needle, the HLx5 needle system do not make a leather needle. Can you advise what leather needle I can use. I have searched Janome website and Schmetz website, who make the HLx5 needle system but do not make it with leather point. I am very disappointed as I purchased the machine to sew leather as it was advertised as a machine to sew leather. I feel very let down and unless Janome can supply a leather needle it is missrepresentational advertising.

      Hi Maureen,
Good question. We do sell an HD9 Leather kit (see janomelife here for info: http://janome.ca/en-ca/janome-life-blog/#enblog) but as I was on the road traveling today, I don’t have it with me to look at what needles they actually are – the code. I will also find out if they are available separately but I’m almost sure they are. I know we sell other little packets of Leather needles. I will get part #’s for you tomorrow when I reach my office.
I sewed a leather bag last weekend and actually just used a regular Janome red tip needle. It was super soft so maybe that’s why it was OK.

More learning tools for digitizer. I have found nothing that goes beyond basic learning. Need to know what things mean their actual purpose. The help sections are too vague. Most of us have no prior knowledge of anything even remotely related and it makes learning digitizer even more difficult.
    Thank you

I have a 9400 QCP and use the AcuFeed feet but I want to be able to disengage the dual feed from time to time but cannot figure out how to do this. I moved recently so have no dealer near me anymore. I make my own clothes and do patchwork and quilt now and again. It annoys me that the AcuFeed do not start seams nicely so want to disengage it until there is fabric underneath the feed. Hope this makes sense.

      Hi
Once the foot is attached to the machine, you cannot disengage it. It is either on or off the machine. I know what you mean about the first few stitches. This is because of the way the upper feed dogs are designed. I would suggest using a little scrap of fabric to sew on & then sew straight off that onto your piecing or whatever and clip the leader bit off later. Will be as neat as a pin.

I would love to see any video that shows something about machine embroidery. I have another brand of machine that does embroidery (very low end), and it’s a major pain. I don’t really want to drive to another city to see a dealer when I’m not sure this is what I want, as I don’t know if all embroidery machines are created equal, or if Janome embroidery machines might be as wonderful as my new Janome sewing machine (Magnola 7360).

      Hi Debbie,

You can find information on our website – every current embroidery machine is covered in detail here: http://janome.ca/en-ca/products/machines/
You can also find many video – some of which cover embroidery features and projects done using embroidery on our You Tube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/JanomeUSA This is just a start.
I’m sure you will find great help and inspiration here.
But at the time you decide to purchase another embroidery machine, may I suggest you make the drive and buy from a dealer you feel comfortable will support you fully with your purchase. We think our machines are affordable quality and very uswer freindly. But our video’s above will show you some of that.

      Hi Judy,

Here are posts we have published previously on Acufil for the Janome Mc12000:

      JANOME’S INCREDIBLE ACUFIL QUILTING SYSTEM

A FURTHER NOTE ON PART 4: ACUFIL QUILTING

And I counted at least SIX webinars and video’s on You Tube on this subject.

There is also a very good APP you can purchase called My 12000 although I would check first that Acufil quilting IS included as it is an optional extra to the Mc12000. You might be better buying the My15000 App as that does include an excellent section on Acufil quilting from start to finish as you asked for. The Acufil Quilting system for the Janome Mc15000 is the same as the one for Mc12000 so you can use the same information.

I think it might just be a matter of not knowing where to find the information.

      Hope that gets you going.
