Installing the PC Applications Pack

Many Janome Sewing Machines come with computer software in the box. Do you know how to install it? If you don’t usually install software, then this post is for you!  I’m going to take you step by step to get started with using all the features of your new Janome sewing machine. The software that I will be demoing today comes with the M7 Continental, our newest sewing only machine.  The explanation of this software installation is a very similar process for other software packages included with other Janome machines such as Horizon Link Suite; Embroidery Editor and AcuTools S. Ed

The first thing to do is insert the CD into your disc drive. Next, open your file explorer, which is usually accessed by a button on the bottom tool bar of your screen.

Find your disc drive, usually it’s the E drive, but that may be different on your computer. Click on it to see the contents of the disc.

Screenshot (581)

Double-click on setup to install the files

Double click on ‘setup’ to choose and install the files you want. A new box will pop up.

Screenshot (582)

Click on each component that you want to install. A series of boxes will open, and may ask you to enter some information. Follow the prompts, and voila! Your new software is now installed and usable. Want to see a video of these steps? Click here.

If you are still having trouble with installation, ask one of your kids or grandkids lol. They seem to be tech wiz’s!  – at least my teenagers are 🙂

Until next time,

JanomeGirl

so upset, not even a week old and needs an update M7 right out of box! can’t up date because I have a MAC! have tried many different ways. in this day in age who sends compact disk, 35$ flash drive still can’t down load online don’t have any information it is asking for? can’t use lap top MAC no CD. Read online one person had to spend d and extra 150.00$ just to get a preloaded flash drive more on top of spending over 4,000$ this is so upsetting! What even more upsetting having issues with M7 that more than likely update online if could would have fixed.

      Hi,
      (1) The update to the M7 is not new. It has been available for quite some time.
      (2) Please contact Tech Support who may be able to help you with instructions of how to get the update onto a USB stick on a Mac. 1-800-631-0183 Ext 775 or tech_support@janome-america.com. The update is online under Machine Updates ( Janome Global website) And Tech Support can give you links to software on the PC a application pack software. Contact them for this as well.

      Hi Corinne,
This software is For Windows PC. You would need to have software on your Mac like Parallels or Virtual Windows in order to be able to use 5his software on your Mac. Alternatively you could purchase an inexpensive (reconditioned?) PC and install on that. I suggest this as some Mac owners don’t like running the program I mentioned.

    Hi Liz,
I just bought a Janome S9 and to my dismay, it comes with a CD for installation. Today, most laptops do not come with a CD drive. CDs are now almost an obsolete item.
The question is, should I buy a new PC with a CD drive or a eternal CD drive just to install this program? Just for a one-time installation?
    My suggestions are:
Could you provide the Retailers who are selling the Janome sewing machines to have a means of providing and changing the option of installation by the use of a USB?
The other option is to provide a unique access code for registration and download.
I am requesting for your company to solve this issue.

    Moving with times.

      Hi Kathy,

I got a new laptop a couple of months ago and it does not have a CD drive so I was in the very same situation as you. I bought an external CD drive which only cost $30 Canadian. Money well spent I believe as I own dozens of Design CD’s which I would have no way of opening to get to my designs without this external drive.
But rest assured that we continue to raise this matter on your behalf. As yet there is no download with access code. I have made that suggestion many times.
At this time you have several options: (1) Ask a friend or family member who has an older computer with a CD drive to copy it onto a USB stick for you (2)purchase an inexpensive CD rom drive
I am investigating other possible solutions. If I find something, I will let you know.

      Hi Kathy,
Ok I got a solution quicker than I thought. Last time I asked, this was not available. Now is. I will get a download link for you and will email it to you when I receive. This will be for AcuTool S but not for the Instructional DVD as that does not convert properly and will not play well so we dont offer that.

        Hi Liz,
I’m also a new owner of an S9 and don’t have a CD drive on my PC to install Acutools S. Could I also get the Download link? . . . It is certainly weird that Janome isn’t providing this option to customers of new machines. Thanks!

        Hi,
Please can you send me the Serial Number of your S9 – on the little plate at the back of the machine. I will then email the link to download the software to you.

Hi, I’m getting the M7 this week and wondered how to download the Quilt block advisor, the Stitch composer and the Screen saver tool. I only have apple products and all I have read, people are using Windows. Can I do it on an Apple?

    • Liz Thompson says:

      Hi Marylyn,

The PC Applications pack which includes the Quilt Block advisor, Stitch composer and screen saver is a WINDOWS based software so must be installed on a PC. It is not for an Apple Mac or an iPad. The AcuSpark App for M7 is available for both Android and Apple mobile devices but not the PC applications pack.

Please do a search in the search box to the right of our Home page as we have information already published about the M7 software, how to install and also about Quilt Block advisor and Stitch composer. There is another post coming up next week on Stitch Composer On Janome Life and we will publish a full tutorial on a sampler quilt I have just made using all 6 blocks in Quilt Block Advisor. This tutorial will be under the Inspire Tab on our website. Not quite ready to publish yet but almost there.

We have also done Instagram Lives on these topics and all the videos for these + more are saved on our You Tube channel called Janome Life. That is also something you might like to look at.

You might also like to look at Facebook And You Tube for Janome Sewing machines As Janome America also has lots of support for this model.

If you still have specific questions, let us know and we will Be happy to help.

I have just purchased the M7. I would also like to know if a link is available to download the Quilt Block Advisor, Stitch Composer and Screen Saver. I searched for these in the search bar as you suggested and do not see any downloads specific to the M7. I also do not have a CD/DVD drive on my laptop. Thank you for any help or suggestions you might offer.

        Hi Vicki,

There is no public download for the PC Applications pack. You purchased that machine and are entitled to the software but if we make it a public download then anyone can just download what you paid for! However, we do have a link for people who purchased a machine and do not have a CD drive on their computer. I will email you separately.

Is there someplace to download the software for your machine – I do not have a CD drive on my laptop?

I have a MC6700P and an MC550E. And I love all things software – was a programmer for 40 years.

      Hi Nora,

We have requested alternative methods of delivering the software many times. For now, all I can suggest is you either get the CD saved to a USB stick; use an external CD drive or contact Tech Support tech_support@janome-america.com. I’m not sure but there may be something they can do? I am unaware of a link where you can download at this stage. It would need to be password protected so that only machine owners could access the software you refer you.
I will continue to request alternative means of software delivery.

A problem that more and more people will run into is the lack of a CD drive on notebook computers. With the emphasis on making notebook computers thin/light/less expensive the manufacturers have removed the CD drive. Most software developers have swiched to providing flash drives or download sites to get their sofware to install. I am hoping that Janome will do the same as I have the 15000 and just bought a new Lenovo X! Carbon (with no CD drive). So now to find the software I need….
