Since their debut a few years ago, the Janome Mini Duckling 4″ Applique Scissors have quickly become one of my favourite things in my sewing room. I can’t sew without them now!
I love them sew much I have several pairs. I keep one in my classroom at the Janome Sewing and Learning Centre; one at my machine at home and one pair in my briefcase, so I always have them whenever I travel. I take my briefcase as a carry-on on planes and have never had a problem with these scissors stored in the front pocket. They’re so compact, they fit anywhere!
The Janome Magnetic Pin Pal is the perfect place to keep the Janome Mini Duckling 4″ Applique Scissors, so they stay handy next to your machine. Yes, it’s perfectly fine to use a magnetic pin cushion next to your newer computerized machine, like the fabulous Janome Continental M17.
One of the reasons I love these little scissors is that they have bigger finger holes for my fatter man-fingers. With other smaller snips and scissors, I can’t get my fingers through the holes to work them, but I have no trouble with these. Anyone with long nails will appreciate this, too!
The engineering of the scissors is ideal to use for embroidery in-the-hoop applique, especially with the offset handles so they get down close to the fabric without hitting the side of the embroidery hoop. The duckbill flange on the lower cutting blade is designed to protect the base fabric while you trim away the excess fabric of the applique.
