Can You See What You Are Doing?

You can have all the skills in the world, but you can’t be a good sewist without good accessories which make the job easier. Being able to see what you are working on is a must!

One option is to use the Janome AcuView Optic Magnifiers which either come with, or are compatible with certain machines. See my blog post Say Goodbye To Dim Eyes for more information.

The other option is lighting. You can’t sew without good lighting! It would be awful to sew over a pin or worse, sew over your finger just because you couldn’t see well. Natural light is the best of course, but that isn’t always an option. Janome Canada dealers have some amazing Daylight Lights to help brighten up your sewing area, no matter which machines you have.

The above Daylight Slimline Floor Lamp Part Number U35118 is fabulous for over your sewing machine, ore longarm quilting machine. The two goose-necks allow you to adjust the lighting just where you need it.

The Daylight Duo Lamp Floor lamp Part Number UN1530 offers adjustable lighting with two separate LED tubes.

I have the above lamps in my sewing room and also my TV room. I like to sit at night with my husband to watch TV, though I can’t sit still; my hands have to be doing something, so I knit, crochet, cross-stitch and I need good lighting for those tasks.

The Daylight Duo Lamp floor lamp with two separate LED wands for light is terrific as it eliminates shadows and provides light at all angles. With 4 different settings, it is great for working on very fine detailed projects. One of the bonus features is that the arm is flexible so I can move it closer if need be.

The Daylight Halo light Part Number U25201 is a great table lamp. The magnifier is an added bonus to assist you with fine hand work or that seam with tiny stitches that needs to be ripped out. There’s even Halo model with a USB charger so if your machine has a USB port in it, you can plug in the lamp to power it while your machine is on. How cool is that?!

The Daylight Slimline 3 Clip-on Lamp Part Number U35108 or Luminous model Part Number U35600 camps on to any surface, takes up no room, and is just as adjustable as the floor lamp models.

Daylight Slimline 3 clamps to almost any shelf or table and is fully adjustable with a 4 step dimmer to adjust the lighting brightness just as you need it.
Daylight LUMINOUS lamp is the brightest and biggest model, perfect for larger machines like the Janome Continental M7 and CM17.

The base has a big “C” clamp which will fit around most tables, and it easily fits through the cable port on the Arrow/ Kangaroo sewing table. Take the light, out of the box, clamp it on your table, plug it in and you are all set!

Your local Janome Canada Dealer will be happy to set you up with the best Daylight lamp for your working area and sewing or crafting needs.

Thank you for this wonderful post. I have the floor lamp and love it. It fits beautifully between my 2 Janome tables that fit the S9 and the M7. I can move it easily from there to my new Continental M17 that sits not far but on the opposite side of the room. I need more lamps, just need to decide which other type might suit best in my space and I have a larger space than many, as it was once “the Family or TV Room” before we purchased the house a few years ago. I do love this lamp as it gives such good light and the flexibility is wonderful.
